Boston College is one of my reach schools. My essays were pretty stellar but I was curious to know who has been accepted and what BC looks for in a student. I wish everyone good luck in thier application process and I hope everyone gets into their desired schools.

I don’t really know enough about BC to chance you or anyone else, but your ACT is in the bottom quartile so my guess is it’ll be tough. However, I wanted to reply because I have heard repeatedly (but second hand, I have no idea if it’s true) that Boston College’s School of Education has much lower average ACT/SAT scores so it’s possible if you applied to Lynch you’ve got a much better chance. There are probably others here who can more knowledgeably address this issue than I.

The closest I can come to confirming the lower SAT’s in SoE comes from the college night at my daughter’s school. Someone asked about improving their low scoring daughter’s chances at BC if they applied to the School of Ed and the guidance counselor said she wouldn’t recommend anyone going that route unless they really wanted to go into education because it can be difficult to transfer into A&S or Business. I thought the guidance counselor’s reply was significant in that she didn’t make any attempt to refute the widely held supposition.
