Harder to get into this year?

Hello,

I'm not sure if this has been posted before or not but has anyone felt that the competition of the 08 class is farther stronger than that of the 07? Or is it just at my school?

I feel that it will be much harder to get into the better schools this year than last

Well, supposedly there are more people applying to college (generally speaking) this year than last. Thus the competition will be greater.

I realize that there will be more people applying, but I meant in an academic-grades and overall application strength sense.

Like does this year's class seem to have stronger grades & ec's compared to last year's?

'08 or '09 will be the peak.

After that it'll become easier.

in my school '08 is much stronger than any other classes tracing back to '04 i think

im an '09er..... damn >_>

I thought '11 was the peak...

At my school, '08 is by far the most academically competitive class. It's like that all across the school district too...

I thought '11 was the peak, too. The classes at my school are just getting bigger.

The national peak may not be the same as the local peak. (One also has to look at international demographic trends, as all of the better colleges in the United States have lots of international applicants.) It's certainly possible for high school students to step up to the plate and try for more home runs in academic preparation even if they become scarcer, so I don't count on any particular year being the toughest admission year. I have four children, in high school classes 2010 through 2021, at home, and I don't expect the youngest child to have an easier admission season than the first.

yeh at my school and probably district the '08 class has definitely been the best in years and is much stronger than last year by far, and i go to a pretty competitive school overall

I hear '09's the peak, at least for district.

Where are all you people getting this information? Can I have some links?

The United States Census Bureau is the definitive source for counting students (although its information may be reported in more user-friendly form on the Department of Education website). But, again, it doesn't matter how many high school students there are in the aggregate as much as it matters how many of them are preparing well in high school and submitting applications to the same echelon of elite colleges.

Not sure where I got my information from, but every top student at our school knows it.
