Hardest Business Major

Rank the hardest to easiest business majors.. Just out of curiosity. I want you to tell me what your observations have been at your own school.

1) Accounting
2) Management Science
3) Finance
4) The rest. (easiest)

Best answer that can be given: it depends.

I guess you can’t really follow basic rules that I gave you for approaching the topic.
Of course it depends.
I said answer it based on your observations at your OWN school.

But it depends on the school. ):

A better question would be: Which school has the most rigorous -insert major here-.

1) Accounting
2)Finance
3)The rest…

Double majoring in accounting/finance, I’ve certainly found finance the more challenging discipline.

I think this is primarily because it involves concepts that are more difficult to understand, and the maths is more advanced. I’ve found accounting is more just a matter of rembering how to account for certain situations/transactions. So, if I ever don’t understand something going into an accounting exam I can pretty much just memorise and regurgitate - not so easily done in finance.

Actuarial science
The rest
marketing/mgt.

So far I have found accounting to be mind numbingly easy. Economics was a bit harder, and I have yet to take a finance class.

It sounds like you are perhaps just in the intro classes, which are all mind numbingly easy.

Get to Intermediate 2 and tell me it’s “mind-numbingly” easy. It may come across as easier to some, but the class is difficult and certainly not mind-numbing.

What you tend to see a lot of in Intermediate is people who took the intro classes (Financial and Managerial) and thought “Hey this is easy! CPAs make good money! Let me change my major to accounting!” Some people do well in the major, but a LOT drop Intermediate and change their major after they realize that it gets a bit more complicated than what they saw early on.
