Hardest Course at Emory?

What was the hardest class you've taken at Emory?
Why did you find it so difficult? Was it those tedious labs? The crazy all-nighters you had to put up to finish the required reading? Or was it the sadistic professor who just wanted to see you shed blood 'n tears?

biology-the teachers are complete idiots and can't write questions correctly

supposedly the major gets better-i made an A- last semester and spend about 1/7 the amount of time on organic chemistry which is supposed to be one of the hardest courses and I easily make A's

Actually one of the bio professors does state of the art AIDS research. Psych methods is by far the hardest class. And I've never pulled an all nighter in 2 years. It's definitely not necessary if you have good time management.

Yeah, I have heard methods is known for being the hardest class as well.

Is that the course (psych methods) with the second most difficult professor in the country?

I think Orgo is generally considered the most difficult course that underclassmen take.

i don't really care what research the bio professors do

they write questions that sound like someone who was illiterate wrote them- just because you are brilliant does not make you a good professor

on a side note if you take orgo take it with jose soria he is not only brilliant but can communicate the information well

by looking at his name, it's kinda ironic how he's the only orgo professor who can commmunicate English well

I've heard that Intro Bio and Organic Chem are the hardest.

Personally, I have yet to have a class that was extremely challenging. Then again, I'm a Poli Sci major. Taking Intro to Italian was pretty brutal though. The language requirement sucks because the language classes here are so intense.

how about the business and economic majors - how hard is it for them? I know its easier than pre-med without any doubts, but it can't be that much easier? What would you say to someone taking regular calculus their senior year who wants to major in business - hardest courses?

There are 4 courses one must take to apply to the business school (Goizueta):

Economics

Financial Accounting

Decision Science

Business Calc.

Economics can be taken as either Business Economics or Micro and then Macro as two seperate courses. It is significantly easier to take Business Economics and most students get A's or B's.

Decision Science is a fancy way of saying Statistics. Pretty easy course; tests are very basic.

I have yet to take Financial Accounting; it is regarded as the hardest of the 4 pre-requisites.

I have yet to take Business Calc. yet, but have also heard it is basic.

A Business major (Goizueta) and Economic major are two totally different things. The former attends the Business school, the latter attends Emory college. Economics is not really business.

Pre-med, I beleive, is the hardest "major" at Emory. Business isnt really that tough, since the first two years are just getting through your Emory College requirements and the 4 business pre-req's. I guess it also depends if you choose your classes carefully... I have yet to come across a class here that I thought was "over the top" or where I had to pull an all-nighter.

Hmm, that was very informational; thanks for the lengthy and informative response

Anytime. :-)

BTW orgo may be one of the hardest classes, but professors like Weinschenk make it worthwhile (in response to taking orgo with Soria)...really you can't go wrong with the Chem dept at Emory. Weinschenk and Soria are the most beloved for orgo, so if you take orgo take it with one of them!
