What would you all say is the hardest school to get accepted to at Cornell is?

architecture

impossible question to answer!!!!!!!!!

If you've shown no intrest in architecture , your not gonna get into that school.

If you are not a "leader" your not going to get into ILR.

It all depends on you.

The hardest school to get into is the one in which you do not belong.

well said above,

however, if you had a "renaissance student" that was good at and interested in everything (i know, impossible), the statistics show engineering is the most selective i believe. i think that was the idealistic kind of answer you were looking for, but again, rusty is more realistic in implying that you should truly apply where you want to go.

architecture

perfect statement!

arch. takes the fewest % of students, but they also have the lowest SAT averages and fewest top students compared to the other schools.

Engineering on the other hand takes the highest % of students, but these students are also the strongest statistically at the University with math SAT scores that rivals MIT's.

gomestar, i dont understand why you keep saying that arch. has the lowest SAT/ACT scores! yea its not like eng. with the crazy math scores but that doesnt mean that you can get a 1500/2400 and still get in to arch. we are still competing against the TOP STUDENTS trying to get into the program! it is highly competitive, so they are looking for the best of the applicant pool. since the classes are only around 50-60 people, the admissions officers want those that are at the top of their class, in the school and throughout the country. and the fewest top students? i can speak for myself--i got 33 ACT and a 3.98 uw and 4.67 w gpa, and im sure some other arch students have those stats also, as well as students in other schools.

stop making it seem like arch students are stupid compared to everyone else.

gomestar isn't one to take other people's opinions for much worth.

i'm an arch student and i'd say about 1/3 of the people are valecdictorians in my class of 60. and the another 1/3 graduated in the top 5% of their class. everyone has had some crazy leadership experience..or done something amazing in HS

laurstar: no1 is saying that architecture students are stupid.. obviously they are not stupid if they are capable of producing the kind of work that they do. but the fact is, SAT scores are lower for architect students because SATs arent as important to the nature of architecture work as they would be for other colleges. they look for other strengths in their applicants that are more pertinent to architecture. obviously many people still do have comprable SAT scores to the other colleges, but as a whole, architecture students probably dont have as high of scores
