<p>What is a "Harriman Scholar" at Columbia? Is it a big deal? Thanks in advance.</p>

<p>Because when you Google it, this is basically what it finds. Other than this post on CC, which it also places high in the search results (kind of makes you scared of Google).</p>
<p>Is that something new? Because there are several scholar programs at CU, but I’ve never heard of this one.</p>
<p>^^I don’t think Harriman Scholars are new…I dated a former recipient when I was in what I call “my between husbands” phase quite a few years ago.</p>
<p>I’m curious also. As the parent of a Columbia first-year and the person who is writing the checks, I’d love to know if money is involved, and whether it’s too late to get the benefits…</p>
