I'm also wondering if you have an opinion on getting into princeton, mit, stanford, and duke. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks!

P.S. ive heard miami has a bad engineering school because its so new, any truth in that?

how did miami end up on your list with all those other top schools? just curious. i personally think that you certainly have the stats for the scholarship. Miami has a page on their site about the statistics of the people who have received that scholarship so take a look at that.

Depending on the major, you’ll get an experience pretty darn close to those top-tier schools at Miami. For example, [zoology is a very strong program at Miami. And the Architecture Department is highly ranked](http://zoology.muohio.edu/zoo/about/) and requires a rigorous admittance process beyond the regular university application. The new business school has a lot of support with a [gorgeous new facility](http://www.fsb.muohio.edu/new-building).

A candidate with a strong background, like mentorhockey22, will find more than enough challenges in the honors program. They have an excellent track record of getting students into top graduate schools.

sounds that’s a reach school for you…mentorhockey

D. did not get it 2 years ago with similar stats (graduated #1 from well known at Miami small private school). However, she got into even more competitve program at Miami that had only 10 spots to incoming freshmen and has chosen Miami because of that. She has never had any desire to apply to any elite colleges. Miami has been very good fit, very challenging academically and she is doing very well. She has tuition covered by Merit scholarships anyway and if you remember to apply to returning student scholarship every year in case of college GPA over 3.8 (forgot last year), you will get very substantial additional Merit scholarships that will cover good portion of living expenses. So. last year we paid only about $4000 for whole year, including R&B.

Your stats are within the appropriate range, and you also have a better chance than applicants from previous years because Honors significantly increased the number of offered scholarships. However, your essays will be the deciding factor.

Arstd-- first, great show! Second, most Harrisons applied to a number of top schools. I only know of two Harrisons in my year who didn’t apply to at least one top 10 private.

More to the point made in [#3](http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/1063335757-post3.html):
