Harry Potter

I just don't get it, what is so fun about Harry Potter? I read the first three because my friend said it was awesome. I thought it was boring like crazy. I did read through, but really, it made me incredibly mad that I wasted nearly a month reading the first three. I was stupid too, I actually bought the first three but, sold it later. I just got a question. What's so amazing about Harry Potter? Is it because a boy can do a little magic tricks and has a two friends on a quest to satisfy their curiosties? I just don't get it.

I like the Harry Potter novels because they sorta let me get away from this world for a while. Also, wanting to know what happens next is one of the things that keeps me hooked.

Yeah Harry Potter is definitely an escape. You just get lost in the story. I can imagine everything I'm reading without any effort at all, and I usually have to use effort with other books. It's so different from our own world, but the story is so great that it just makes sense. I also like it because it's like I've grown up with the series. I'm usually around the same age as Harry and each book gets more advanced and intricate. The new books definitely keep you hooked. And the many story lines that you are eagerly ready to see the end of.

Yes escaping from reality is definitely a plus. Although I spent the last few weeks rereading books 1-5, and now it's imperative that I get back to reality...
Maybe your taste just differs. I like to read mindless fun little books once in a while :D

I'm the same as atomicfusion in that I've sorta grown up with the books. The only book where I was the same age as Harry was book 4, I think. After that, I out-aged Harry by a little. I've been devoted to the HP books since 6th grade. They've been a large part of my life...

Man, when Rowling publishes the 7th book, I'm gonna be crushed. A large part of me will be gone forever. I get teary eyed thinking about it.

When do you think Book7 will be released? I'm hoping for 1 year...

One of the interviews she had said she hoped to have it out in two years.

Harry POtter is the devil's booka nd promotes devil witchcraftry.

why because it teaches kids to be brave? it makes kids turn off the tv?

its just a twist on your average coming of age novel. its a great escape. of course reading harry potter isnt my life, but its fun to read. enough said

Book 6 is soo good
best one so far

It promotes good over evil, integrity, and courage. Have you actually read the books or are you just completely judging them?

i thinks it's hilarious when people say HP promotes devil withcraft and such.

what about LORD OF THE RINGS. i never heard ONE person denounce it for promoting devil withcraft or powers greater than God. and it was to a much higher proportion.

so what's the big deal that harry potter has some "magic" in it, which everyone SHOULD know isn't real.

btw....i think the HP and LOTR series are pretty good and could care less if the characters can shoot spells out their butt.

Oh, yeah, a mother sacrificing her life for her son, truly evil indeed. No love at all.

Read the books! All the "good" side talks about is love!

I love HP because it's escapism. I can research as much as I want on theories, ponder what's going to happen, scour the books for clues, worry about the characters, have favorites. . . it's fun. But I've always been a fantasy fan.
