I don’t know as much about OCU (I don’t have any kids there), but I do think that there is a difference between a BM and a BFA and you need to know which you are interested in. Each degree would be a great fit for a different kid. I looked at the degree requirements for OCU and it looks like Acting is not required every semester (as is the case with many BM programs) so that should be a good clue. A BM is going to be much more voice/music theory centered. Additionally, it made me think of the fact that Hartt is very rigorous with Music Theory, Sight Singing and Keyboarding which is a plus for a BFA program.

I found this page really helpful for OCU (you have probably seen this): [Oklahoma City University : Bass School of Music : Degree Programs](http://www2.okcu.edu/music/BM_theater.aspx)

Does this work on a cell phone? Ugh im in London and I don’t have a computer. I can’t find the online button on my phone.

Yes, from a parent’s perspective-- MTcoachNYC is saying exactly what I’ve seen of the program through my D.

Rigorous training and supportive, family environment is important to my D. She really wants to get full and rigorous training in all three. Acting is a very important element to her. The one drawback to OCU is the lack of acting.

Good news! I had the student’s mom call and he got the confirmation that he’s in and he should be getting scholarship information in the mail shortly!!! If you choose Hartt, PM me so I can give you his name if she wants to look him up on FB. I’m sure there will be a Hartt MT 2017 group eventually. Additionally if you want to get in contact with either of the students I know who currently go there, just let me know!

Awesome! I would love that. It would be great for D to speak with current students of Hartt. Visiting in April. Thanks!

Awesome! PM me and I’ll give you the Email of the Junior student. He works a lot of the auditions and I think does tours (he definitely gives personal ones to his friends applying!). He is a GREAT person to speak to about Hartt. So exciting!!

Just checked my D’s Hartford account. We now can also access the “make deposit” section and she is listed as a Hartt School Student with Musical Theater major. I have ants in my pants and can not stop thinking about it. I hope all this is true and she is accepted at the Hartt school. It is at the very top of her list. Where else do you get to do a gazillion shows!!!..She loves the idea of being at Hartford. Can’t get to exited yet…just waiting to get something in the mail.

Textilesi that Is exactly how we found out my D Was accepted at Hartt two years qgo! As I have said before, her letter was really lost in the mail! We had to call several times till they read it to us over the phone. You should give Ashley a call on Monday and ask her. And, congrats I am sure it’s great news

They will tell you over the phone. They also told me that letters would arrive shortly.

Txwiesi the above message was for you auto correct!!

They told me over the phone that the deposit pay option appears only for accepted students.

Yes, my student too. If it says musical theater, it should be an acceptance. If the parent calls, they will tell you over the phone :)

Thanks to everyone being supportive and helpful. I appreciate it so much. Today is Sunday, I will call them tomorrow and will update after I’ve spoken with them.

OK, just talked to Hartt. It’s confirmed, she is accepted into the MT program. Happy Day!!!

Congrats on the acceptance txwiesi - D is a soph MT so ask away!

Hi, my D is a Dance major but that board is not busy at all and I have been following this thread as we have had similar questions. D’s tuition deposit link showed up recently as well.

If offered a scholarship will info show up in the link or does it come in the mail with the paper acceptance? When my D called they said they were very interested in her so i’m not sure if that means scholarship which will be of the utmost importance in making our final decision.

1bighappy family:

our acceptance letter arrived today and a separate envelope from the financial aid office. If they are offering a scholarship, the amount will be included in the acceptance letter. We did not open either of the envelopes yet (my daughter is still at school for rehearsals). Can’t wait for her to come home

A lot of questions have been answered already by reading other conversations…but here are a few for you and your daughter. As, most of us know, Kevin Gray past, we are very sad about this as everyone else is and our hearts go out to his family, his students and the faculty. I know he was very loved, we only met him once but he left such a huge impression on us that we; as a family decided this is the school!!! Actually everyone that we came across was lovely, Alan & Jan Rust are very pleasant as well.
Questions:
- Is there some idea of replacement for Kevin?
- How much interaction is there with the University of Hartford students?
- We are planning to visit, end of April…which show should we come see… The “Drowsy Chaperone” or “Big River”? (its ok to be partial if your D is in either one or both of the shows)

Thanks so much. I am sure I can think of more as time goes on.

TXWIESI—Congratulations!!! Our daughters may be classmates! We felt the same way once we met Mr. Gray and his presence had the same affect on our family. Such a loss! We are visiting in April and are also interested in seeing a show but I do not think anything is playing (at least not Big River or Drowsy Chaperone) the weekend we are coming.

I have the same questions. Cannot wait until our daughter actually receives the acceptance packet. They told me on the phone. :)
