Holiday Inn Express on Brainard is about 15 minutes to campus by car or free shuttle. UH rate is best around, includes free parking and a decent lobby breakfast. Shopping at Blueback is nice and we love just walking around on Farmington. Have fun!

Is there a current Hartt parent who can explain the Monomoy Theatre connection? From what I can gather, it’s a summer program on the cape which the theatre kids can be involved in. Do they audition? Get paid? Is it availabe to first years? Thanks.

A few first-years go as techies, Newbieat. After that it’s by audition. It’s a summer stock theater on Cape Cod that does a full season of terrific plays and musicals. (I live nearby and have always loved it.) I don’t know about the pay.

Thanks Gwen! Lucky you, living nearby Cape Cod!

Forgot to ask, do you know if the kids are on their own for housing there, Gwen?

I’m pretty sure there’s housing there, newbie. But not 100%

TXWIESI, my daughter had her mirror day today and LOVES it here, we have a couple more days here, but so far this program is a WINNER!

Yay, Midden…and daughter, of course!

Midden, we are packing our bags and will be visiting shortly, too. Sounds like a great experience. Thanks for reporting back.

My son is visiting and sitting in on classes tomorrow (BFA MT). If all goes as expected, I think Hartt will be his choice. I’m sure there will be questions afterward, so we may have to call on the expertise in this forum. I’m glad you are all here.

My son’s visit went very well according to my wife. Because of flight delays they did not get home until after midnight last night. We haven’t had a chance to talk about details yet, but he confirmed that his mind is made up and he will be attending Hartt as a BFA MT next fall! Now where did we put that checkbook? ;-)

sadiekdh, thank you for the PM. Just so you know. The CC system blanked out the domain name in your email address. I don’t have enough posts on CC to send you a PM back.

randav2, sounds like a great visit. Report back when you’ve had the chance to talk to him. We are up next to visit. My D is very excited. Hartt is one of her top choices. We are visiting Monday and she’ll get to see the Drowsy Chaperone.

We will be up in fri and sat for drowsy

D was raving about how great Drowsy is after seeing a rehearsal last night, Sadie! She loved loved loved it.

So glad to Gwen D can’t wait for it to go up tomorrow!!

So sorry I’m late posting this. My S had a great time on his visit last week. He said everyone, students and faculty, was very friendly and enthusiastic. He was especially impressed that Alan Rust remembered his audition.

He liked what he saw in the classes and liked the focus.

He loves the campus and looks forward to meeting more of the incoming class. He was too wiped out to attend a rehearsal for Drowsy that evening. In his defense, he has been crazy busy with shows, rehearsals, school, work, etc. He intended to go back to campus for the rehearsal but decided he was too wiped out once he got back to the hotel.

I know this isn’t very enlightening but he is excited, we are excited, and all are happy we found Hartt.

Well, we just returned from our visit. The folks at the Brainard Holiday Inn are very nice, the hotel was comfortable and the free Breakfast was good.
BTW, my D loves Hartt, so the decision has been made and she will be going to Hartt. We actually ran into some kids that she did some shows with when they were younger. Its a small world. Everyone was very welcoming and helpful. Since my D comes from a small HS senior class she felt right at home at the Hartt School. Even some of the kids we talk to at the University seemed to be nice, respectful and friendly.
PS. The Drowsy was super funny; they were all great, my favorite was Aldolpho.
