Are there any Hartt students or (parents of) who have firsthand knowledge of the Study abroad program in England? Our D has been accepted to Hartt (BFA acting) and is interested in learning more about the experiences of the students who have been through the program. Many thanks in advance.

At the Hartt meeting for parents and auditionees at Chicago Unifieds, Alan Rust said MT students can’t spend a semester abroad-- Their curriculum is too “set in stone” for all 8 semesters. He did mention that there’s an opportunity Junior year to go to Italy for 3 weeks over Winter Break.

For AT (acting) students, there is a 10 week study abroad Shakespeare program in England, followed in the Spring by a performance back at the school.

Thanks…SU88BFA… I did realize that the MTs could not attend… Silly of me to post this here. Just looking for a student that had actually been there and could comment on the training and the travel. Thanks!

A little late here but I’m mom of a Hartt AT-- no the MTs do not have time abroad as part of their curriculum. They do have the chance to travel to Italy in January term with two of the profs, for credit. The AT’s go to England spring of Junior year for a Shakespeare intensive taught by members of the Royal Shakespeare Conservatory among others.
