Still working on this common app essay. I think the Harvard supp will be pretty easy though.

Applying because the Asian-pacific Society sent me an email telling me to :P

Still working on this common app essay. I think the Harvard supp will be pretty easy though.

Well my son’s app is not remotely done!

I submitted my Common App yesterday, still have to do the supplement though

Harvard’s supplement has got to be the easiest by far. Just an optional second essay which you could take from a previous supplement. I’m wondering if Harvard gives early notification of admission? I heard some people find out earlier before the regular applicants despite the omission of EA.

nah I don’t think such is the case

Only in the event of “likely letters,” which are predominantly limited to recruited athletes.

Hey guys, I’m so confused. I definitely want to attend Harvard, but the chance of my acceptance is so abysmally low that I don’t know if I should add another figure to Harvard’s pool of applicants. I don’t know what to do :(

Well I certainly don’t have the stats that can compete with the ones I see in the Harvard RD thread. Should I apply? Your opinion is welcome.

I would recommend that you apply. You certainly don’t want to lament never having done so.

What if I’m a legacy and there is no place on the Harvard supplement to write it?

Common app asks you form schools your parents attended. So they will see you are a legacy.

Anyone else nervous for the interview?

Yes, the interviewers accept bribes right?

^hahaaha10char

Lol @ Technite. In all honesty, though, I’m not that worried for the interview. I plan on just having a friendly, honest, up-front conversation with my interviewer.

Will the interviews be scheduled by the school when we turn in our apps (by December) or can we schedule the interviews before submitting the app? I know for all the other IVYs they will notify the applicant of an interview once the materials have been submitted, but I’m not sure about Harvard’s process.

^ You will be contacted by your interviewer after you’ve submitted your app.

Anyone thinking of not doing the optional essay?

I’m not happy with my Yale supplement essay; so unless I think of something compelling in the next couple months, I probably won’t send an optional essay.

@mifune: Thanks for your advice. The feeling of despair is hard to overcome, but I guess I must try.

I’m reusing my Yale supplement essay for Harvard’s optional one.

No interviews in my area! (At least not last year even though people got accepted). I don’t know whether to be disappointed or elated.
