Harvard 2016 Official Transfer Thread

@orionfall After getting rejected from Cornell yesterday, yes, I am extremely nervous!

When do you all think we’ll get our decisions? Last year they were done on 5/8
maybe they are coming out next week on 5/6 O.o

Very possible - 5/8/15 was a Friday, and 5/6/15 is also a Friday.

@blackwidow22 Everything has been received, so I’m out of the woods now.

Random question spurred by curiosity:

Anyone else here applying with their intended concentration as Slavic Literatures & Languages?

Linguistics

I was also tossing around 05/06.

Does anyone have “academic work” uploaded under supplementary materials? I don’t remember ever uploading anything.

@mmkk12 I uploaded a research paper, and it shows up as “academic work” under supplementary materials. I could upload the research work via SlideRoom since it wasn’t an option. Maybe you have a similar situation? As the portal specifies, “Scholarly articles, research, creative writing, or other documents should be submitted in the Materials Uploader below.”

*couldn’t

@foodie123 No, I didn’t upload anything!

@mmkk12 I also have it and did not upload anything.

When was yours uploaded @Bored1997? Mine says 4/22.

Mine says 3/14 @mmkk12

@Bored1997 Hmmmm interesting

@mmkk12 It might be the additional information section in the commonapp, I used it to list some classes, I am taking 12 classes in total this academic year (4 per quarter).

@mmkk12 Weird
maybe @Bored1997 is right. I wonder if you submitted your commonapp on 4/22, and somehow the portal took some info from there to the portal. Good news is even though it’s odd, I don’t think it’ll influence your application if you didn’t submit something

@Bored1997 @foodie123 I think it might possibly be an evaluation from my interview? I had it a few days before the 22nd. I did not fill out the “additional information” section of the common app.

I’m surprised by the number of non-traditional transfer applicants applying to Harvard. We have ex-military, people looking for a second chance after dropping out of high school, etc
 It seems like the other schools like Cornell have a large pool of applicants who just want to get into an Ivy even though they already attend wonderful colleges and have great resources available to them at their current school

Yeah there are some pretty noticeable/well-known trends among the schools. Harvard and Yale want their transfers from other Ivies and top schools. Stanford, MIT and Dartmouth look for veterans and nontraditional students. I’m sure other schools have their own general preferences as well.

@mmkk12 You had an interview with the Harvard admissions office? What were the questions like?
Do you think this means they are seriously considering you, or they simply want more information?
