Didn’t know this thread existed! Hey @IndirectProofs nice to see you here lol.
2017 decisions were release Friday May 5th, and 2016 decisions were released Friday May 6th. I’m assuming they will probably stick with the first Friday of May theme and release next week on May 4th.
@SmartJarhead nice to see you as well! I can’t wait for the decision, although I’m 100% sure I know what it will be, because it’s Harvard lol.
@IndirectProofs Yeah I expect a rejection but still, worth a shot
Hoping for the best. Good luck to you all
Good to everyone here! I don’t expect to get in but it was worth a shot!
So what are you all thinking? We’ll hear back by this Friday?
I think it will be this Friday!
@IndirectProofs thanks!
By the way, did anyone here get an interview request? I had one with an Admissions Officer, but do not know if thats atypical or the norm.
According to Harvard’s website, that is atypical: https://college.harvard.edu/are-there-interviews-transfer-applicants
It’s confusing because like @gibby said, it’s atypical, yet it seems like quite a few people on this website get interviews. It makes me wonder how they choose who gets one and who doesn’t. I know the quote says, “Should the Admissions Committee need more information” but what makes them need more information?
Either way, I am glad I didn’t get one. I’ve never been a great interviewee, I am introverted and shy.
@IndirectProofs during my interview, it did not seem that Harvard “needed more information regarding my application”. They just asked me the general questions - why Harvard, why I am transferring, what I have done this past year, etc. It did not seem they had yet read my application, so I don’t know the reason behind the interview.
@mdaly99 It’s confusing because several people who have interviews don’t get in, yet people who don’t sometimes get in.
@IndirectProofs one of my friends got interview as well, and he did not get in last year.
@ivcstudent well that’s encouraging… hahaha
@mdaly99 I am really sorry. I didn’t mean to discourage you. I wish you the best! I hope you will get into one of ur dream universities!
Any tips for a future transfer applicant?
@Legends if you plan on applying to multiple schools, start the process early. For UC schools I started in October and submitted end of November. Right after that I started working on the private school apps in December. Send in all your materials (transcripts etc) early like end of January or early or mid February. Either way, give yourself lots of time to get everything done so you don’t forget. Oh and don’t forget to start on financial aid apps early as well.
Did you use any high school Extracurriculars in application, or only college?
I used college, except for volunteer hours which I used from high school because I had 100+
