Hello everyone! I was also deferred by the H. Have you watched reaction videos of accepted students? They couldn’t make me happier. The excitement, the hard work, and now the results… I’m glad to be part of this amazing community of EA applicants. Congratulations to the 964 accepted students of #Harvard2022! They sent chills down my spine. So excited for them, sincerely.
Now, does anyone of you know if we can also update our portfolios? Also, can we still request an interview if we hadn’t got one for EA?
Hey, guys, a quick question. I have recently joined a digital newspaper and reported a video that gathered more than 38 000 views. That’s a huge step for the newspaper, since usually they have around 3000-5000 views, but I wonder if it is big enough for the admission committee. Shall I update them on that? What do you think? Thank you in advance!
@Tomas1355 I know that! Thanks. I was asking about my Slideroom portfolio, though. I have already submitted a musical portfolio and was wondering if I could still add anything to it.
Anyone knows anything about the interviews, though?
@Ramaa I think it was a serious slap in the face for a lot of us, and we’re a bit withdrawn to metaphorically ‘lick our wounds’ and come to terms as to what we need to do in the future.
@Ramaa I know it is just that I am unsure which ones to add if any when there is not really that much time left before applications have to be completed.
Agreed. But there is also a life outside of the classroom (I hope). So while the academic experience may be comparable at Dartmouth and Penn, I can’t imagine that a person who would be happy in Hanover, NH would be equally at home in University City and vice versa.
My point was it seems silly to apply to colleges simply because they are “Ivy League.” Choose schools according to location, size, academics, EC’s, and “vibe.” I personally feel the last one is important. Ivies vary if you consider any of those criteria.
Hey, is there anyone who got deferred and did not get an interview for the early round? Also, is it possible to still have an interview, despite not getting one for EA and being deferred?
I just found out last week that I had a typo on my application which I already sent to like 5 schools, including Harvard! My mom and my brother had read my app too but totally missed it as well… surprised I was deferred instead of rejected. Maybe they didn’t see it. How screwed am I? :))
Yes, it is possible for deferred applicants to be invited for an interview even if they did not originally get one. You can view being deferred as effectively having re-applied for the RD round - your application will be reviewed again in its entirety, including any additional information you submit between now and the RD deadline, and the alumni network will again try to schedule someone to interview you.
Note however, if you did not originally get an interview it might suggest that there aren’t too many alumni in your area, so I wouldn’t necessarily expect an interview either unless some more alumni free up.
