Harvard 2024 Waitlist Thread

That is for 2016’s pool (the class OF 2020)

@Mommabear1 OK. I am in France and it’s nearly 1 in the morning here. So should I expect a call sometime tomorrow (if I will even get one)?

@visreedhar usually calls are on Tuesdays or Mondays. Has anyone checked out reddit to see if there was WL movement today? I have no idea how to use that site :)! Nothing in CA today.

Can other current waitlisters (whether checking out CC or a member) let others know if you’ve heard anything at all regarding movement today? Please mention your state and whether you received a call, email or nothing. I think this information will help us all with keeping our sanity during this process :)!

My guess is there will be no more waitlist release until after the deadline to request a gap year. Purely speculation.

Interesting and makes sense…Does anyone have an idea of when the deadline is for requesting a gap year?

Past posts state that the gap year request was extended to end of June. Not sure how reliable that info is.

“My son is taking a gap year - this is a big discussion among admitted students right now. In the past they had them decide earlier but his understanding from talking to folks there is that they are extending the deadline to make that decision. It do…

Harvard is not making admitted students decide on a gap year until end of June. Consequently, they won’t have a real estimate of the number of incoming freshman until then. I would expect if there is serious movement on the wait list to happen then.”

No updates, no email, no phone call- CA!

Checking in - how’s everyone doing? Holding up OK?

We are not expecting a rejection wave today, correct? Since there was no observed waitlist activity earlier this week? Also, I just checked my portal and the “Waitlist Status” tab is still there. In the past, when that tab disappeared for some, it was an indication that there was going to be a rejection wave. I am guessing there is not going to be one today since my tab is still intact.

I heard someone who was waitlisted received a call in late May and was guaranteed a spot in the class of 2025 if they took a gap year. Seems strange in a year when so many students who were admitted may take a gap year. Has anyone else heard of this?

Portal glitch?

Missed a call today from the Harvard general phone line. Is something happening today? Might just be nothing but definitely anxious. Waitlisted in CA

@yeetxd did you call back and let them know you missed a call? I would definitely follow up!

Yeah I tried. Since it was from the Harvard general line I wasn’t able to trace it. The one person I got in touch with said there were no updates to my application and the call was not from the admissions office. Still not sure as to what it meant.

@yeetxd keep us posted!!! Good luck!

Doesn’t look like rejections went out today. No calls, no emails, no status change. CA

If Harvard requested IDOC did that meant possible admission? Can someone answer this question for me. Because that’s what I thought when I submitted IDOC in February. Now on the waitlist and trying to stay optimistic.

Another school asked me for additional financial aid info while I was on the waitlist, but I wasn’t admitted. It’s more likely that you’ve missed something or it wasn’t properly sent. At least they’re reviewing your file though!

Harvard has a lot of decisions to make prior to determining how many more will come off the waitlist. First, They need to find out how many will take a gap year. Second, they need to make sure there will be adequate housing based on the option they choose. I think the waitlist will continue into late July.
