This is not feeling so great…
Has anyone contacted the AO recently?
@wait2024listh - I just tried to call. Apparently the phone lines are closed between 4-5 pm (EST) on Wednesdays.
I feel like even if you call, they won’t give you any concrete answer. They’ll probably just say “all applicants will be contacted by phone, email or portal update in the coming weeks”. Although, it doesn’t hurt to ask if they’re still sending out waitlist offers.
Enrollment confirmation (and housing intention) forms are due this Friday 7/24 for all students. Returning students can still request LOAs after that date, though. That shouldn’t impact first year students. It seems the gap year request exstension is only for incoming international students who, of course, just learned that their visa requests will be denied. I hope everyone loves the school that you are committed to. Harvard is a great school but it is far from the only great school. Based on what people have shared in this thread folks are committed to absolutely wonderful schools. Frankly, one thing that makes Harvard Harvard is their residential housing. It’s why 98% of all students live on campus in their housing for all 4 years and why admissions are so exacting every year to make sure every student can live in residence. But with COVID who the heck knows what residential housing will look like in the immediate years ahead and frankly what you’d get this year is not even a tiny fraction of the experience. If you get a call from Harvard, cool. If you don’t you know that you will kill it where ever you are.
Thanks @apparently22! Do you know if the restriction to international students has to do with the I20s or with the VISA processing?
I just know what the Crimson reported and what was sent to students on Tuesday. I don’t know enough about the visa process, in general, to offer any thoughts or to know the distinction of what you’ve asked. I’m sorry.
edit to add: this is the language from the Crimson article “…any incoming Harvard student who received a Form I-20 to begin their studies this fall will be unable to enter the U.S. in F-1 status because all undergraduate fall courses will be fully remote.”
Any news anyone?
nothing here in CA
Nothing here either. Penn closed their waitlist today, Cornell sent out a bunch of transfer options today and UNC, Pomona and Vanderbilt have had waitlist movement recently.
Y’all, it looks like we are alive for another week! Have an amazing weekend!
Well July 24 has come and gone. Harvard will likely either use the waitlist or close it this coming week. Good luck to everyone, hopefully we can all be in Cambridge soon. Whether you get a call or not, you should be proud to have made it this far and you’ll all be successful at whatever school you attend!
@waitlistedsenior thank you for your kind words. It has been a pleasure being on this post with all of you incredibly talented people. Let’s try to keep each other posted in the next few days and, hopefully, we will be celebrating some getting calls. I feel that if they close the waitlist it will be today. Who knows???
International students have another week to decide, so I bet this list Will be alive until the first week of August. Indeed, it has been great to be able to exchange ideas with all of you. Fingers crossed some of us, or our kids, will get to the finish line!
@myrfog : helpful info. thank you.
Any news ? Hopefully some calls go out today.

I called AO today. The lady on the call was very apologetic and said that they (H) will have to make a decision now, it has delayed significantly and they have to take a call either this week or early next week. She stated that everyone will get an answer.
I dont know how to read this but she said that there are still kids on WL so…She said that is all she can say…
She apologized for the delay…
