Hopeful for these schools (in order):
Harvard, Yale, UPenn, JHU

What do you think my chances are? and any suggestions for other schools to look at? areas of resume to improve/emphasize? Thanks!

JHU and UPenn are matches, Harvard and Yale are reaches (but they are for anybody). Your resume is very impressive, but there's nothing to distinguish you from the thousands of asians who are going to apply to the same schools. Believe me, I'm one of them :). From what I can gather from reading alot of the threads on this board, the essays are important in making you stand out. Hope this helps!

Assuming you have no alumni relations at Harvard, apply early to Yale. Yale accepts a much higher percentage early, and you can still apply regular to Harvard if you get in (Harvard regular accepts almost the same percentage as EA, so it's not much of a disadvantage.)

By UPenn, I meant specifically Wharton.
Does that change my chances?

thanks :-)

try the Florida Virtual School course for AP Macro (i think they might even offer AP micro, but I may be mistaken...).

There are 1000s of other Asians just like you

i agree w/ irbis. being asian sucks when getting into college. you'll have to be wayy above most asians to get in =[ and most have the perfect GPA and sat scores and still don't get in.

bump......

Penn, especially Wharton, is not a match.

Good shot at JHU though. Good luck.

good gpa! bad sat iis. You are basically the average applicant I guess.
I know I have no chance at those schools. although I will have 3 800s in sat iics and I think I will get get 2350+, my gpa is junk. only 4.42

Your GPA is relative to your school. You can't talk about weighted GPAs out of context. Course loads and grades are a better indicator.

Essays are the key.

An A+ in an AP course is a 5.3 at my school. Our Valedictorian has a 5.2, and I was 3rd in the class as of the beginning of this school year
