Harvard Acceptance by Demographics

Does anyone have a chart of a recent year where it shows how many kids got in from which U.S. state/foreign country?

It’s not quite by state, but it does give an idea by region:

[Harvard College Admissions § Applying: Statistics](http://www.admissions.college.harvard.edu/apply/statistics.html)

What was the expected class size for 2015?

I believe for Harvard it’s around 1,660.

Oh ok. So do they assume that people are not going to matriculate and accept extra?

Yes, that refers to their yield rate, or the percentage of admits that will ultimately matriculate. There are always a few that will pass up the school for some other top college cough Stanford cough or perhaps a full-ride at a state school. For H, this number seems to hover between 72% and 77%, but it might be affected by the return of early action. I think that among early admits alone, there’s something like a 90% yield.

LOL Harvard left out Caucasians under ethnicity. If you calculate the % for whites, it comes out to be 56%. Talk about diversity and white bias.

^You’re joking about the white bias comment, right?

@HSMCCP: You do realize that the white people comprise something like 80% of the U.S. population?

I don’t think I’ve ever seen the ‘white bias’ card played on CC before. It’s usually the other way around…

^That’s why I assumed he was joking…lol If there is a bias, it is definitely against whites.

Of course I was kidding. Does anyone not understand what it means to trololol anymore?

I don’t think I’ve ever understood what it means to “trololol.”

lol…sarcasm doesn’t always play out well over teh interwebz

On the other hand, snide facial expressions don’t either
win win?
