Harvard Admissions-Chance me?

Hi everyone, this is my first post on CC so bear with me.

I just visited Harvard for a campus tour and information session, and like most everyone, I fell in love. I clearly have other colleges that I am going to apply to considering that wonderful 6.5% acceptance rate, but I have made it a goal to submit the strongest application I can. I am going to post my "stats" below, and based off of everyone's experience, I would love to get some feedback on my chances.

GPA: 3.87 unweighted, 4.51 weighted
Class rank: We haven't been told, but I am assuming I will at least be in the top 10%
SAT/ACT (AKA my downfall…): SATs I have gotten a 1910, but I will be taking them two more times. I got a 28 ACT composite, and strangely enough a 34 on reading.(will be taking ACTs again as well) I will be taking SAT subject tests in june.
AP classes: I am currently taking AP bio, APUSH, APLAC, and next year will be taking AP STAT, AP CALC, AP CHEM, AP spanish, and AP Lit.
Other classes: all honors level.

EC's:
Ballet for 12+ years
Performed major roles in a few shows
I have gone to the bolshoi, kirov, and Rock summer intensives
I am currently taking an EMT class and will be certified by this summer.
Last year I held a 100 hour internship at a local pediatricians office
NAMES- (an anti-bullying program at my school) Role: facilitator
NHS- currently just a member, but I will be running for a leadership position
Spanish Honor Society- Again, will be running for office, but i am in charge of our organizations relay for life team right now
Tutor
Volunteered at animal shelter, have done past relay for life events

Awards:
NSLI-Y scholarship with the Bolshoi Ballet Academy, awarded by the US state department. I went to Russia on full scholarship for 6 weeks and danced at the Bolshoi Academy and learned Russian
At the end of the trip, we had to take a language proficiency test, and I scored at the intermediate level. (not shabby for 6 weeks haha)
6 academic awards last year for performing at the top of each of my classes

That is about it, if you could give me some feedback I would really appreciate it!

Your SAT and extracurricular activities are weak. The latter because I don’t see any commitment except Ballet. Due to that, I think your chances are low. Good luck!

sucky application looks like another harvard reject in the making

What grade are you in? If you can improve test scores and maybe get some more leadership I think you might find a spot in the “lottery” with other applicants. You have amazing achievements, but Harvard is incredibly selective. Make sure to rock your essays and get great recs. If you are really serious about Harvard, put your heart in it. Also, don’t forget to visit and apply to other schools, because you never know what school you’ll fall in love with. Good luck!
Please chance me back:

Unfortunately, I don’t see it happening. Your EC’s are weak, and so are your standardized test scores. Right now, your chances are slim to none. Your need to get major help in either EC’s or standardized test scores just to get up to the “slim” category. That being said, you never know what will happen. Write a great essay, have a great interview, have great recommendations, and cross your fingers. Good luck.

Chance back

@pompeyfan9797‌ , bro… u serious? who does that man.

I’m a junior. Yeah right now I am studying like crazy to get my SATs up. I appreciate your feedback!

Wow, such negativity from some people. But you risked that when you posted on the very useless what are my chances forum. Obviously none of us are Harvard admissions officers, so take everything with a grain of salt.

Here’s my take. If ballet is something that consumes 20+ hours a week, that is a very significant EC. Weave that into your essays to show how that makes you “you” will go a long way. If you are top notch, include an arts supplement and a supplemental rec from your dance teacher.

NSLI-Y is very competitive, so that is a plus. I know a guy rejected from NSLI-Y who got accepted SCEA to Yale, Go figure.

Now the reality. 1910 and 28 won’t cut it. You need to strive for a several hundred point boost. Aim fir 750+ on SAT II’s.

Visit and fall in love with other schools. At the end of the day 95% of applicants will get rejected from Harvard. Good luck.

Those scores will probably keep you out. :(

gpa is decent. scores are too weak. extracurriculars are eye-catching and can be a huge plus if you word them right.

You’re at least 400 SAT points away from being competitive.
While a 400 point bump is possible in theory, it’s very unlikely.
I think you need to be looking at a very different class of school.
