^i guess he didnt put it there; although national AP scholar implies a good gpa!

Ok tell me this: say a person has 3.9uw gpa, sat2 800x3, all As on many advanced courses(A levels to be specific, or say a 42-45 on IB diploma), BUT a sat1 of 2020. What sort of an "academic rating" does this guy get?does achievement on college-level courses offset low sat1?if yes, to what extent?

ok i'm BUMPing--someone be kind and answer my ques pls!

I think you should take a break from all of this speculation, and enjoy your high school experience.

lol...well i enjoyed HS a lot;in fact so much that i never worried about collg anywhere, much less in the U.S., and lesser still at an ivy! I just did everything i loved;nothing to get into aany collg--but now that time has come, i dont want to think i ought to be at a huge disadvantage for not knowing this whole big process of admissions, sats, and the like(intls will empathize with me here,i hope)...so to repost my question:

how much does the sat1 affect the academic rating assigned to an applicant?--can a low sat1 be offset by a perfect GPA+rank+sat2s+As in challenging courses+,etc?
Based on whatever u guys know, do u think a 2020 is GLARINGLY low when almost all other academic evidence shows excellent potential?

I cant change anything in my record now, and a yes or a no answer from u ppl wont change much. But an honest and corroborated answer can at least lay rest to my stupid desperation. So pls--> your 2 cents will be million $ to me!

i dont think any of us has an answer for you...how would we know?

just guess!! any guess! maybe be nice and say they'll disregard the bloody sat1!!!(i mean in my case)

ok, i guess no one's answering, so that's the end for this thread..

I think the SAT I's are important, but having said that keep in mind that 25% of Harvard's class scored below 1400 in the math and verbal section.

You'll prolly get a good academic rating, perhaps not the best because im sure there are enough "perfect" 2400 Sat I, 6x 800 SAT II, divine GPA, Nobel Prize winning students that apply to harvard to justify reserving a special rating for them. But I wouldnt worry about it too much. Most of us probably arent in that category anyway.

I dont think 2020 is glaringly low it translates to about 1380 old sat so it should be fine.

Yeah I was also thinking the same. But when I hear that a bit over 50% of the APPLICANTS to harvard scored above 1400/1600 on their SAT1s, I really start worrying! But I think SAT1s, like they've always stated, are not everything.

Man !! "half over 1400" actually shows you the amount of competition here!

I posted this question in another thread too, but I need answers. So someone help please.

Q) If I designate Harvard as a recipient of my January 27th SAT scores, do I ALSO need to get a score report sent to them by January 1st?(I don't have so much $ to spend on 2 sets of score reports!)

Q) Isn't it also supposed to be the same for other colleges that accept the January SAT scores (i.e. I do NOT need to send a score report now, IF I'll be sending one in January?)

so basically i dont want to send an official score report now! Is sending the january one fine, or MUST I send an official score report now??

yes you can send it later if they say they accept those scores.
