Harvard Admissions Officers are on Crack!!!

He's also wrong in saying only 1600 got in. The number should be 2000. 1600 is the number that enrolled. Hey, most people that understand this simple math are far away from getting into Harvard. LOL!

stambliark41,
You were thinking the recruited athletes at Stanford. However, Stanford doesn't have a skatespeeding team.

vanilea,

Perhaps you should stop your infatuation with this guy. LOL! I am just kidding!
At the time he applied to Harvard, we know he got 2250 on SAT and was a top speedskater in the US. That's all we know. Anything else is just speculation.
We also know he got denied by Harvard.
Instead of speculating why he was denied, you went your own way to just assume this guy was wrongly denied and defended for him using biased speculation.
You said many Olympians were poor. Well, many Olympians are pretty middle/upper class too. Without knowing anything about this guy, it's more logical to assume he's not poor given ice-skating tends to be participated more by those from middle/upper class. Where do you likely see inner city kids? Outdoor basketball courts or indoor ice-skating rings?

he was speed skating, but that doesn't mean he wasn't reading or doing other studies

It doesn't mean he was either. IF he wasn't doing anything else, it's a no brainer to deny him. It's a POSSIBLE explanation, isn't it? Yes, we don't know if he was doing any serious studying but we do know the media didn't mention anything about SAT II/AP tests and scores. Either he didn't take them or the scores aren't good; I highly double the media would miss mentioning them if he took them and scored well.
