Harvard Anti-hook Game

So, even though it seems as if im really new to CC cuz of my post count, ive been hanging around and just reading your guys' threads for a couple of months. I've sort of been scared to post, because you all seem so qualified... but, i've finally decided to post with a proposal for all of you CCers.

this new game is sort of directed at those who arent really confident about their accomplishments and are continually dissuaded from applying because of the amazing stats they see on CC.

we all have reservations about applying to the big H (or any other big name college for that matter) - it's only natural. instead of sharing our hooks and advantages, lets share our biggest insecurities and that which we think might lead us to being rejected. after all, it is much harder than writing our positive traits and accomplishments.

so, the game goes as follows: write down your biggest insecurity about applying, be it a personality trait, a lack of ECs, etc. But be creative and honest... and trust me, it's liberating!!!

So here it goes:

I have only 4 ECs.

SAT/SAT II's suck -

I have a pretty high rank and nice gpa
great EC's

But at least I'm a UMR right

Peace.

I am not a URM (too many Asians running around campus), SATs are terrible, I'm pretty prosaic, I don't really show dedication.

my gpa is a 96.5? does that count?

Four may be plenty, provided you have taken one or two of them and really run with them -- pursued them to a high level because of your interest in and dedication to them.

I wrote my essay on an eating disorder. My official community service is abysmal, and I don't do sports/clubs/arts at school. I'm from Southern California and Asian American--so if I get in some greater power must have been at work.

everything else is pristine -except my GPA

I'm already in, but when I was applying, my main concern was that I am a white, upperclass male.

I got a 680 on an SAT II which I took because I felt like it. I got a C in the second trimester of 10th grade History.

I love how this thread is an anti-depressant. I'll support it :D.
anti-hook... definitely SAT score

i used to have terrible grades in frosh year, and the first semester of soph. i had no real ec's in soph/frosh year. my sat isnt up to where it needs to be. my class rank is low (for harvard) 34 outa 360, my cum gpa is low because of those bad frosh grades. im spending way to much of my time on cc when i could be doing some important homework lol. also, what a great thread! oh yeah, i forgot to mention that i dont understand physics at all, even though i need to take an ap test and a sat on it.

My main concern is my GPA.

LOL dude you are like my long lost twin brother! bad frosh grades, spending way too much time on CC, and doesnt understand physics at all! LOl

Every single EC that I have is affiliated with my school in some way - there's no obvious "community outreach" ec

My app is perfect besides

ACT 32
SAT 1330
SAT II 520/670/680

i have bad ecs in that i have no national or statewide or even regional awards of any sort...plus im from new york and jewish.

shainaloves - Wow, it's like a mirror, same here, everything great, until the scores are mentioned...

wait are yours better or worse... ;)

No EC's worth mentioning, and ****ty class rank.

Sith - ecs good?
