Not your typical indian, trying to major in political science.

harvard- match
due to your near- perfect SAT scores and community service in Africa, you should be in. The only that may stop you is the GPA.

No offense to mitosis, but if you take a look at the Harvard EA forums, there were kids with near perfect SATs, and hundreds of hours volunteering in other countries that were deferred . . . it's a hook, but not that big of one for a school like Harvard. (just my opinion) I think you'll get a better idea of your chances if you go to the EA thread and take a look at acceptances, and compare

A 3.6 is pretty low for harvard, but don't let it discourage you, I think you still fair well in the game. You may not want to include "trying to sell a book" in your application... it sounds odd - technically, anyone can say this. If you aren't being self-published, and have a reputable agent, then you could say that - it makes it sound as if you're a lot serious. (Atleast IMO)

If the essay and interview are good, you're in.

do you have a life?

did you give up your life for a chance?

well it is a damn good one!

I agree with Ragnarok.

You may have bought your admissions to Harvard with your childhood.

Then again, nothing's a sure thing so you may have wasted your childhood for nothing. :D

how did i waste my childhood?

he's kidding

Many students do volunteer work abroad, but not many organize their own charity for a foreign country. Combined with his outstanding scores and impressive leadership within the school, it will be hard to keep him out. The GPA won't help, and we don't know how big his school is (if it is very small, the clubs and sports may be non-factors), but I think samurai has an excellent shot at the top universities.

One thing that disturbs me is the "Asian" mentality. No, I'm not talking about Asians who do math and science and nothing else. In fact, I'm talking about just the opposite: Asians who think they are unique because they don't do math and science. Asians hoping to major in poli sci are hardly a rarity anymore. Never assume that you're special just because you're a humanities-oriented Asian. /end rant

INDIAN KOREAN ALLIANCE? that's awesome :)

Hey, I think I know who you are! LOL!

what the hell? you're probably in everywhere (like 90%+ chance)

edit: I don't think that's how you should write "DecathAlon" on your app, right?

Realistically, you've got the same chance of getting admitted to Harvard as the other one or two thousand plus kids who applied with really impressive stats and ECs similar to yours - around 25%. Much better, of course, than the average Harvard applicant who has about a 10% chance, but not a slam dunk by any means. I sincerely hope you applied elsewhere, and applied to some good schools you consider safeties.
