On the Harvard Application it says "Occasionally, students feel that college application forms do not provide a sufficient opportunity to convey important information about
themselves or their accomplishments. If you wish to include an additional essay, you may do so." Then lists some common topics for you to write about. Is this in addition to your essay because it does say it is optional. Do they really want you to write two essay's?

When it comes to Harvard, nothing is optional. The students who are most competitive and have the most to say are going to write that essay. That being said, it is supplemental. It doesnt have to be long; write about something you’re passionate about.

Honestly, if you’re applying to Harvard, one extra essay shouldn’t be a chore.

agreed with annachristina above good luck

How key are SATII’s? 2 of mine are okay…but need a third.

if this is true what should i write my other essay about? i’m also applying to harvard as a long shot. however, i already included an extra essay in my common app about a program i’ve been enrolled in at a local university for math, which reflected a lot about my academic abilities/interests and the lessons i’ve learned. my regular essay was about my outlook on life based on a role model and my activities essay was on the lessons i’ve learned from playing field hockey. is another essay still recommended and if so what would be the right direction to go in?
