I want to know what kind of computers are offered at Harvard. I haven't accepted my acceptance yet so I don't have a Harvard ID and can't log into the store. I'm planning on getting a laptop for college and hope I can use 2500 of outside scholarships to buy one. Can anyone download a pdf or catalog off of the site?

Add these prices to the $2500 for some pretty amazing deals. I'm planning to go Mac for a sum of about $200.

hmm, is it just me or do the laptop offerings from harvard pale in comparison to stanford... This sucks, stanford sell them for much cheaper than harvard with better stats...

It looks like Stanford has better deals on discontinued models than Harvard does. I can't see the prices for current models without a Stanford logon, but I'm pretty sure they'd be the same as Harvard's.

If you're interested in a new iPod, you might want to hold off on buying a laptop. Apple has run a free iPod with purchase of a new Mac promo around August every year for the past 4 years. You can also usually get a free printer, after rebate, when you buy a Mac.

cool, is it an ipod shuffle or one of those big ones?

Oh, and do we have to buy it straight from apple? Cause I was hoping to use some scholarship money to buy a laptop through harvard

In the past it's been a Nano.

Does it matter who you buy the laptop from? I think the Harvard store tends to offer the same deal (or a similar one) in August... although I always prefer to buy from the Apple Store for Education.

Does the university have a web page detailing the fine print of the $2500 for computers deal? I noticed in the financial aid brochure that came with the admissions materials that they allow you $2500 for a computer from your outside scholarships, but it doesn't mention whether or not you have to buy them from Harvard.

hmm, I think it would have to be from harvard. Whatever money you use has to be paid through the FA office since they're not just going to give you 2500 cash to go buy whatever you want. There might be a chance that you can buy it somewhere else and give them the receipt so they can reimburse you but I think that would be too much trouble for them
