Harvard Class of 2010 Percent Yield!

thanks for the response. i was just curious. Of course i'm hoping no one gets their admission rescinded!! That would be super depressing.

The yield is a little lower at MIT this year. MIT admitted another 30 students from the Wait List this year.

Hopefully some of those kids were biding their time at Harvard and will now withdraw from the class of 2010...that way, both they and us would be happy.

There has been some movement in the waitlist, according to my friends at admissions. About 15 students were accepted off the WL.

15 students are already accepted?

that's a lot.

are they accepting anymore?

I do not believe so.

Have the 15 acceptees been notified yet?

Guys, here's a post answering questions about the yield and waitlist for this year:

http://www.thecrimson.com/article.aspx?ref=513463

As you can see from this, Fitzsimmons says only five or six people will be admitted from the waitlist this year, so it will be extremely difficult to get into Harvard if you are on the waitlist at this point. I myself am on the Harvard and Brown waitlists (Brown's yields have exceeded their capacity so they probably won't be admitting from the waitlist) and am signed up to go to Tufts next year. So just cross your fingers and pray or whatever you'd like to do to psych you up for waitlist decisions, but just know that you are already a statistical improbability (we all are anyways). Personally, I'd say look to the future at whatever school you've sent a deposit to and look to excel there. If you still feel like you need the Harvard on your diploma in four years, feel free to apply for transfer at any point.

In any case, enjoy your summers, and any Jumbos out there get in touch!

xjayz -
1) how sure are you of this info?
2) do you know if they have been notified yet :-( ?

Very sure.

No. I do not know.

Hmmmmm. I'm guessing the students were notified.

That doesn't seem possible. Admissions officers were off on trips around the country recruiting. If anything, they must have done it just today. As to notification, they notified us at 5:00 PM Eastern Standard Time on March 30 and the same thing could be true here.

wow... the amount of hope you possess astound me. But seriously, it would make sense that they would notify the accepted students immediately after accepting them, and leave everyone else until they have time to send out a mass email, letter, or something.

we should try to see when last year's waitlists were notified.

Everything was postmarked May 20th last year. That's a full week from now, almost.

not postmarked. i mean phone called

In that case, most of it happened after May 20th, if I recall correctly.

so for all of us waitlisters, where are you guys going if not harvard... lol?

Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut.

canaday, do you have a link?
