Does anyone know if (and if so, when) Harvard might be sending out likely letters?
Yes. Based on past years, they will send out likely letters starting 2/15.
Keep in mind, likely letters are like fairy dust. The vast majority of accepted students do not get a likely letter. In fact, only about 100 are sent to non-athletic recruits. So don’t keep refreshing your email in the hopes that one will show up.
*keeps refreshing email in hopes it might show up anyway
Cooool. Thanks tho @skieurope
Hey guys, is it just me or is there no way to check the financial aid documents needed? There’s generally a section on portals for FA, but this one only has application stuff. Am I missing something? I want to make sure my app is 100% complete!
@samc24 I had a question about something being late and called up the Harvard financial aid office. Apparently, since they receive so many applications, they don’t have a system of telling applicants if all their aid documents are in. Even if you personally call or email, they won’t tell you. However, if you get accepted and you’re missing something, they’ll let you know and it won’t influence your aid award in any way. The only thing that can happen is that you’ll get your award a bit late.
Good luck!
My portal says I’m missing my “Midyear Report” but I called and they said they have my transcript, which they claim will suffice. Should I be worried? My application portal still has a red “X” next to my midyear report
I shouldn’t be too worried if I never received an interview email, right? I live in a pretty populated area, not one of the major, major cities, but pretty populated nonetheless. I’m also technically homeschooled, so that may have something to do with it, if these things are coordinated through guidance counselors, I’d imagine
Any international got alumni interview mail
A girl from my school says she got a call from Harvard. Can anyone else confirm?
@Knawledge4Cawllege I know they call to schedule interviews- could that have been it, or was it a for sure acceptance?
I’d be willing to bet that’s it…especially because nobody else has been called
Likely letters for Harvard do not go out until 2/15
Hello guys. So I just took a shot at Harvard regular decision. I do not have perfect test score (33 ACT), Perfect subject test scores (710, 650), perfect GPA (3.9) but I have some extravagant Extra curriculars. I have published my own book with a publishing house on ‘De-addiction from technology through Yoga’, invited to give a TEDx talk on same, weekly columnist on benefits of yoga in various fields, few internships in HR, research paper, lots of community service, Internationally certified yoga instructor. If no other applicant in the applicant pool does yoga, does it benefit me in any way?
34,000 applicants and you think you’re the only one who does yoga?
@Palak786 I think your unique experiences will be very attractive to a school like Harvard. I think your background would really benefit an uber-competitive school like Harvard where the students might need to learn how to de-stress and relax. I recently read an article that Columbia just had their 7th suicide since September. I think any student that could offer a calming outlet to his/her peers would be a great addition to a competitive college campus. And while your stats aren’t above their 75%, you still have a strong record.
Good luck! I personally am very impressed with all that you have accomplished with Yoga.
@skieurope about the yoga- dude that’s kinda a jerk thing to say. I mean yeah it’s not going to help, but you don’t need to be mean about it.
Any indian applicant had alumni interview yet
@collegemomjam Thankyou so much! I wish I do get in Harvard with my current profile.
@skieurope people might have done yoga out of the 34000 applicants but have they written a book around that topic or spoken a TEDx Talk. Activities can be common but experiences and attempts would be different.
LOL. @skieurope, be nicer, dude. No matter whether your info is timely and relevant and you actually attend Harvard.
It was not my intent to be mean, and I was not; I was straight-forward.
Regardless, if you (or anyone) thought that was mean and still wish to attend Harvard, you will need to develop a thicker skin if you are admitted and decide to attend. One will get a lot of frank (not mean) comments from profs/TF’s/advisors/etc. The days of a person being told that they are special and exceptional will end the day s/he steps foot on campus.
