I’ve heard some decisions are made the day before, so they probably are making decisions from February up until the end of March .
It must be a gradual process. They probably keep making cuts until they get to the right number. I’m sure it’s an insanely daunting process because so many applicants are probably amazing and it must be difficult to have to eventually cut people!!!
@collegemomjam There is a dramatic comedy movie about Princeton admissions. If I remember correctly, it is called “Admission” (lol), and it stars Tina Fey. I have no idea how accurate it is, but consider watching it to pass the time and see a guess about what goes on in the admissions office. I found it very entertaining. In the movie, they make preliminary cuts, then take the applications to a committee who either accepts, waitlists, or denies the applicants. It could be vastly different for Harvard, but based on my research I think many top schools do this.
Oh I also found some really nice “behind admissions” videos on Youtube. They seem to be reasonable enough in their approach. Might want to look into those too.
I sent in an abstract of a research paper that was published back in January. Would it be a bad idea to send in the whole paper now? Just feeling desperate
@emli8100 they hav akways asked about abstract. But if u feel to be sent u can send… with such small percentage of acceptance u should keep no stones unturned… this can never go against u…
And sending it will come across as desperate.
Oh, sure it can go against you. Harvard tends to like when applicants follow instructions. Nobody in admissions will have time to read the whole paper, let alone understand it. If an AO planned on sending it to a faculty member for review, and said faculty wanted to see the entire paper, the AO would then ask you to send the whole paper.
Just a question, but does Harvard release likely letters? And do you know if deffered students from ED have ever recieved them?
@johonmilla You shouldn’t worry about likely letters because hardly anyone gets them. But yes they already released them, and no, a deferred student from EA (not ED, Harvard doesn’t have ED) would most definitely not receive one.
Just got the call that I am a likely letter recipient!!! I’m so excited
I missed a call today during school about an hour ago. The caller ID was Cambridge, MA, so I assume it was Harvard. But when I called back , a person answered who said they hadn’t made any calls today??
@skieurope I just received a likely letter btw. Have a good day.
@emli8100 were you deferred from EA?
Dang it seems like a lot of people are getting likely letters.
@ap012199 Seriously though… I’ve seen so many people get them and not just for Harvard, everyone here made it seem like it never happened
Is likely letter through email or mail?
For Harvard, they call you and upload it to your portal.
Got a likely letter!
Hey guys! No likely letter, but I did receive an email from my rep. I sent in a SlideRoom supplement and he just emailed me saying that he’s happy I submitted it. I’m a little confused since I thought reps, especially for Harvard, aren’t supposed to talk to us before decisions…
But congrats to all the LL recipients!! Seems like they’re sending out the bulk of them today.
