I got a likely phone call from my admissions officer this morning saying that they made a decision on me and I was accepted. I guess my portal is getting updated with a formal likely letter later tonight? I was really surprised because I would not consider myself a clear admit nor, a terrific applicant
@waitwhutwhy17 Do you mind sharing your stats?
Do you any of you guys have ‘Academic Work’ uploaded into your supplemental materials? I never uploaded anything, and I’m pretty sure this wasn’t there last week. Should I be concerned?
@dewrrrett it was probably your mid year report being uploaded to the portal.
The ‘Academic Work’ was posted on December 28th. Our mid year reports were sent out late January… Apparently, some other people on Reddit have been having this problem as well.
@dewrrrett did you upload a supplement through SlideRoom?
My D did not get any notification about an interview, but her portal shows all materials received. Could this be because we are in NJ – a state that probably has a lot of applicants, and maybe not enough interviewers to meet with them all?
@waitwhutwhy17 I felt the same way! I thought there was no way I’d even get in, let alone receive a likely letter. I wouldn’t consider myself anywhere close to the caliber of many applicants. And yes, my portal was updated about five hours after I got the call!
@waitingmomla Interviews don’t show up in portals, merely because not everyone gets an interview. The interview isn’t a mandatory part of the application
@waitingmomla I also live in New Jersey and didn’t receive an interview. I was considering calling and asking about it, but I think that, like @DreamforIvy says, they just don’t have the resources to interview everyone. Don’t stress.
I was contacted on Friday March 10th and told by an admissions officer that I had gained admittance to Harvard via likely letter. Later that day (5pm to be exact) the letter was posted in my Harvard portal. I’m beyond thrilled, I was worried about getting into Harvard at all, let alone being an applicant chosen to receive a likely letter. That being said I wish everyone the best of luck!
Turns out the reason for that mysterious interview was to confirm that I am worthy of a likely letter. I received a call on Friday saying that I would be admitted come end of March!
a deferred from ea applicant here! can’t wait for the decisions. 6 other people from my school applied (im in-state), and im in a constant state of thinking that they deserve getting in more than me, even though all of us excel in one or other way. any ideas how to fight such self-esteem bumps?
@yuvanni 4 kids from my school applied, including myself. I’m also in-state!! What part of MA are you from?
@woahitsdice i’m from marblehead! where are you from?
Boston but i feel you on the whole insecurity thing… I’m 99.9% sure that I don’t have a chance of getting in
insecurity is my middle name
i set low expectations so i’m not disappointed
will be over the moon if i’m waitlisted (and probably cry if accepted bc that’s not gonna happen)
I’m gonna cry either way TBH lol
Anyone know roughly what percentage of deferred applicants are accepted during the RD round?
@TheCrimsonBulldog where would one even find these numbers? I don’t feel like it’s something that is released. And if anyone has an estimate, I wonder about the sources/logic behind it.
