Harvard Class of 2021 RD Thread

@swim1128 will do!

@sozzle if I remember correctly I put the title of my writing and a subtitle that was my prompt. So it would have looked like:

Title
An intellectual experience that has been important

Or whatever the prompt was.

@lhw1998 nope :slight_smile:

Now we wait

I submitted my app yesterday and I already got contacted for an interview. Harvard’s fast!

@doorrealthe yooo dang that was fast

@lhw1998 lol no, just a coincidence :stuck_out_tongue:

when do sat scores and such have to be sent?

@JuicyMango I would assume as soon as possible? I don’t think they give a specific deadline, but I could be wrong.

@doorrealthe The same thing happened to me, and now I can’t stop shaking. I wasn’t ready for this.

I submitted my apps weeks ago and haven’t been contacted for an interview. How did they contact you?

Just got an interview request! Just wondering… does legacy count for anything in the RD round?

I know @gibby has posted some helpful information about the process, but does anyone know anything about timing? Does it help to have your interview report in early? I have a lot of things going on in the next few weeks and have thought about postponing the alumni interview. But wonder if that will have any impact on when my file goes to committee, if I even get that far?

In the Upload Materials section, it says:
“We have received the following documents from you:
01/03/2017 12:30 PM - Academic Work”
^is that my supplementary essay?

@IvyKid1 I think that, if you haven’t put anything on your portal, it’s your counselor that updated your marks etc.

^^Yeah, I have an interviewer (and an interview date) already too. I’m super worried about mine, though; I’ve only had two interviews so far, and one of them was very awkward (rip) and the other one was only okay (I don’t think I talked enough about my passions???).

@DryMango I got an email from a Harvard alum

@ap012199 hey Harvard got my scores yayy

Same! @swim1128

@SkipWoosnam

I interview for Yale and H’s interview system is almost a mirror of ours.

  1. Interview assignments are de-centralized. Each regional Alumni Schools Committee (ASC) has a director – if he/she is quick, then assignments go out quickly. Thus timing is all over the board.

  2. Early? Tiny-- Likely Letters for superior applicants start going out in late Jan, early Feb. If the typical interview report isn’t due in by Feb 15-- an earlier submitted report may nudge you in that pile. But you’d have no way of knowing one way or another. Also, many LL recipients are so glaringly strong that no interview report is required. So the effect of an earlier report submission is tiny if any at all.

  3. Your app will go to committee w/o the report if strong enough. Reports aren’t guaranteed and the committee works fine without one. However, if additional info from a potential report is desired, they’ll hold off deciding and your local ASC will be asked to ensure and/or expedite a report from that student.

@T26E4 thanks for that helpful info. I realize it’s early, but if a student hasn’t received an interview request yet, is there any significance to that? Or if they don’t get one soon?
