Question about mid-year reports. My counselor should send a mid-year report next week. Do I need to send a mid-year transcript with grades from 1st semester or will the counselors report cover that?
If I need to send a mid-year transcript, do I send it to the Common App like I did when I initially applied to Harvard and all the common apps schools download it again?
If someone has been named a candidate for the Presidential Scholars Program, would it be a good idea to update Harvard on this? I believe everyone who received perfect ACT/SAT scores is named as a candidate so many Harvard applicants will have this designation. So not a totally “unique award”.
Does seem like a reasonable way to show continued interest though?
@HYPSPlease It’s not an award at all until one actually gets it. If you were one of the 121 of the final selected, then yes, I would update Harvard. Being a candidate, no, not worth it. There is really no need to show Harvard your continued interest. Harvard, while a very fine school, does have the egotistical mentality that everyone who applies feels Harvard is their first choice.
@chipshark One does not apply for an interview. If an interviewer and time slot is available in your area, they will contact you, not the other way around.
@skieurope, Thanks. Wish Presidential Scholars were decided before college admissions came out, but semi-finalists are announced in April and scholars in May.
This question has probably been asked already, but it would be much appreciated if someone could fill me in: I applied RD and have a friend in my area who has been interviewed already. Is it a bad sign that I haven’t been contacted for my interview yet? Was I supposed to have requested an interview after finishing my app, or is everyone eligible for an interview? Are their people who get in without gettin an interview? Thanks fam and hang in there! This waiting game can be agonizing!
How long were your interviews? My interview went past 3 hours (I’m RD political science) Last year my sister had a 4 hour interview for Harvard (she was EA international relations) but ended up being deferred and then waitlisted, so the interview didn’t have a huge impact. But just curious if the lengthy interviews are normal, both my sister and I had different interviewers.
I would say those are unreasonably long interviews, and although there are fields related to International Relations and Political Science at Harvard, neither is a concentration at the College.
@socalsam My daughter’s interview was a bit over an hour. I don’t think interviews should last as long as the SATs!
@MCurie I believe the interviews have more to do with available alumni in your area who have the time/ability/desire to interview and has nothing to do with you or the status of your app. Interviews are not required for acceptance.
hey guys, I was wondering if any of you would be interested in joining/creating an applicant groupme or something! if you’re interested or know of an existing one, let me know thanks
@socalsam I had a similar experience, as my interview lasted nearly three hours. All of my other interviews have been about an hour or an hour and a half, so I was surprised. However, I am a bit of an unusual applicant, so I think my interviewer wanted to make sure that every detail of my circumstances was addressed in the report to Harvard.
My interview was just under an hour, but I had a great conversation with my interviewer. Actually, I haven’t had an interview longer than an hour and half yet.
