@dazedaura Where did you hear that? Interviews have very little importance. I know clearly more qualified kids who haven’t gotten interviews and clearly unqualified kids who have gotten interviews.
@dazedaura I heard they give interviews solely based on alumni availability in the city you live in.
oh that’s good to here. I’m worried because a girl from my school who lives in the same city as me got an interview but I haven’t.
@dazedaura Maybe the interviewer they assigned to you is just busy. Don’t worry because they wouldn’t punish you for it.
When would they contact you for additional FA documents? Like if someone didn’t submit one of the required FA pieces, would they for sure let you know before decisions, or would they sometimes send out decisions without FA?
Do you guys think the decisions have already been made by now because, while I was looking to send my highest SAT scores to other schools, I realized that those scores didn’t send to Harvard even though I remember ordering them to be sent when I registered for said SAT scores? Let me know because I emailed Harvard, but they didn’t give me a clear answer.
@Scholar526 Well, what did they say? It wouldn’t hurt to send them, unless you have financial constraints.
@DoctorMD just general info that you can find on their site. I sent them rushing just right now so hopefully they will now consider both scores.
@SSundee I’m wondering the exact same thing. Does anybody have any input?
@NoahTapp For me, Harvard has been my dream school since elementary (around 4th or 5th grade specifically). I really liked the fact that it was very prestigious and for kids like me who wanted to learn and be challenged. I know you can say that for any school, but I felt a connection with Harvard early on and it got deeper when I visited the campus. As for my chances, pretty low compared to everyone else applying who have schools with AP courses (my school doesn’t). However, I think my essays could give me a good chance
@NoahTapp http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/harvard-university/1853427-harvard-class-of-2021-scea-applicants-discussion-p40.html post #600. For me, it’s not about prestige. I genuinely think Harvard is the university that is going to nurture my abilities, needs, and talents at the highest level of efficiency compared to all the other universities I have looked into.
I’m not going to lie, I do feel like I have a chance, but I don’t know if I’m unique or interesting enough for them at this point. I feel like once you pass a certain academic threshold, it all comes down to your essays, letters of rec, personality, etc. And if I get rejected or deferred, I don’t think I will be absolutely crushed. I heard (don’t quote me on this) that sometimes admission officers rejected applicants that they might really want because they feel like they would not be happy at their university, so getting rejected might be what is best for the applicant.
If you are really unique and only got a 28 on the ACT, would that affect you?
@class2021 What does “unique” mean? Malala Yousafzai- unique? 4-star football recruit?
Other than that, 28 is a millstone. I’ll tell you this: most of the time when a poster claims to be unique, they’re severely over-estimating their uniqueness or desirability to top schools.
What do you mean by millstone?
Millstone – a huge weight that would cause you to sink to the bottom of the ocean.
If you’re family has means to contribute a lot financially (tens of millions USD) to the Harvard community, you should have your family attorneys contact the Harvard Development office.
Do they view apps holistically ? I mean like the individual can contribute to the student body, not money
Could someone answer @SSundee 's question
@SSundee - when I contacted FA department regarding delay in my CSS submission, they said not to worry - admissions decisions will not be delayed due to FA documents delay. If FA documents are all on file - they may send FA offer with admissions. If not they will send FA offer later. That is what they told me - YMMV.
@class2021 Unless you’re a the child of an A list celebrity – likely not. But H does evaluate holistically. This is the EA thread. Perhaps you should take your inquiries to a new thread?
@MedSciBud @T26E4 Will they ASK for FinAid info before decisions, if you are to be accepted? Or, will it only be asked for after, if accepted?
