@rsmith0208 Your ACT is amazing - so I definitely would submit those scores. I think with regards to standardized testing, there is a minimum threshold that you must pass in order to be considered. I think once you are in that range, a higher test score doesn’t change much about your appeal. I say this because I have seen many students from my school get in with scores ranging from 2100 to 2400 (on SAT).

I think the threshold for standardized testing also depends on what background/school you come from. If you come from a wealthy private school, the university admissions committee might hold you to higher standards than the student from a less affluent public school.

With standardized testing, I wouldn’t worry as much. The school views them as less and less important each year. Your scores are really high though, so I think you are above the threshold no matter what background you are from.

However, standardized testing and grades aren’t everything. So now just focus on your extracurriculars and creating a compelling application!

@Satoract I wouldn’t say you are out of their league. You have a 2400 SAT! That is a rare feat my friend. Just because you don’t have fancy awards doesn’t mean you are out of the game. Its all about creating a compelling story. Pick an experience of yours and talk about its significance and how it changed you. Show that you are a person of substance and of confidence who is aiming to go out and change the world!

You have all the test scores and grades to apply. Now its just up to you to package yourself well. What is unique about you? What unique perspectives can you share? What is a story that truly shaped you and prepared your character for a place like Harvard? Yes, admissions is tough, but you have the scores, so that already is a step in the correct direction.

Approximately when do you guys think you’re submitting your SCEA apps?
Who has already submitted if anybody is that organized ? :))

@CrimsonZa

I’m planning on submitting mine early October. I want to make sure I won’t doubt when I submit the app and make sure my teachers won’t do anything crazy with the rec letters.

Hi I’m from New Zealand and I will have finished my senior year in high school by the end of November this year but will not have my end of year exam results until mid January 2017. However, we complete many assessments throughout the year that count towards our overall grades. Should I send in the results from this year (my senior year) for the School Report on Common App as I am only a few months off completing that year or from last year (my junior year which I finished in November 2015)?. Also, should I send in a Mid-year report? And if so, for what grades (my junior or current senior year).

Thank you!!!

I need help on my supplement essay!! I’m not finished, but I will definitely post it when I’m done. I was just wondering if there will be anyone here willing to look over it when I’m done and give me feedback, thanks!

I just finished editing and proofreading my supplement, common app, and 150 word EC essays. Now just gotta ask my English teachers for their opinion, add reccomenders, update my GPA and I should be set for applying SCEA :slight_smile:

@Scholar526 I’m here if you need me

I have a 1550 SAT score and a 4.64 weighted GPA (3.95 unweighted) but I’m scared I won’t be in the top 10% of my class

@gsw1999 that 10% is for reporting purposes – it’s not some drop dead cut off for admit/rejection. Some schools simply have tons of great academic achievement. Stop worrying. I’m not saying you’re a shoo in but your academics (assuming you’ve taken a rigorous curriculum) are past any reasonable threshold.

any international SCEA applicants here?

@kandykoloredbaby I am!
Where you from ?

@CrimsonZa A tiny little island in Southeast Asia haha :slight_smile: you?

@kandykoloredbaby Somewhere in Africa :))

@CrimsonZa Heard the competition’s extra tough for international applicants :-/ Hope your app is going well & good luck to both of us!!!

When do decisions come out? Is there a definite day or is it just mid December?

@krauser126

Last year for Harvard decisions came out December 10th, the Thursday. Expect decisions at the end of the second week of December.

Hello guys! I hope to see you all in the fall :slight_smile:
