Harvard Class of 2023 RD

@TheGuy1 Harvard the same? How do you know?

@love2cheeses I read it somewhere.

Maybe its on their interview webpage itself. Mostly there.

But its written on an official webpage.

Since I’m not allowed to link pages, see for yourself.

Some dude over on Reddit posted that a likely letter was posted as an update to his admission portal.

Does that happen? I thought the Ivies aren’t supposed to update the portals until all the decisions are finalized.

@TheGuy1 thanks

@whatsmypassword yes, it does happen.

@whatsmypassword

You cant trust ppl over reddit. It may happen, but I highly doubt they follow 1 route of updating app. portals for some apps, and the other route of mailing for others

Maybe it did, but you cant bet on it. I think they mail 'em, like they used to.

Yeah exactly…

But the dude did post a screenshot of the LL. But it was pretty generic.

Also, he has deleted the post now.

Seems suspicious to me!!

@whatsmypassword

LL’s tend to specific, and if he’s blurred the confidential info, he should be keepin’ it up, unless of course, its fake.

Why would you take it down later, if you meant for it to be shared with the whole subreddit?

I wouldnt count on it. Wait for an LL to come by mail. They may come by as late as a week before the dec. date sure to it being an actual mail. Otherwise wait for the dec. date.

No LL doesnt mean no accept.

Have fun.

Yeah… I wouldn’t count on it either.

Anyway, let’s wait for Ivy Day!

ATB!

i came here depressed from reddit after reading about how no interview=rejection for international applicants, but saw these posts here, and kind of feel a bit better now. My country is not even in the list of the countries with limited interviews, but I know that every student who got into Harvard from my country got interview at some point (and yes I know each one of them, because Harvard has been accepting only one student from my country each year), so I guess I ll go back to being depressed.

Hey @gibby @CollegeAdmInfo the interview went well. Discussed certain features of my application, talked about some of my accomplishments and then we just talked about Harvard and Cambridge. Maybe you can tell me if just a gesture, but the end he said “you have my email, if you ever have any questions, or just wanna chat, email me there, but I’m sure you’ll see an email from me in a few weeks anyway.” Repeatedly asked me how I overcame certain things, what made me strive for excellence, etc. Speculations?

Was it an Adcom?

If yes, then you’re probably in…

Else, if it’s just an alumni, can’t say anything for sure…

Yes, it was for a Final Committee interview and was my Senior Admissions officer @whatsmypassword . He also said “here’s some selling points for Harvard” and we made fun of Yale, haha

@whatsmypassword Agreed.

In any case, for all good/top schools, the alums get to know of the decs. of the apps they interviewed 1 day or 2 days later (latest) from the dec. day.

So its regarding the dec. notification between the app and the alum/adcom.

Thats general protocol.

Also, for schools having adcom member interviews, i know they’re rare obviously, but is there any correlation to the assignment of the adcom member to the strength?

Just curious

@TheGuy1 What do you mean in correlation to strength?

@jordanheston apps which the adcom decides they would like on campus more than others; apps with a higher rating on the Harvard Applicant Grading System.

So i was wondering if apps having a higher rating on them means getting an adcom member?

Maybe. Maybe not. Idk. hence the curiosity.

At the least, it only matters very slightly. THats for sure.

@TheGuy1 well I’m not sure, from the conversation and emails we had he seemed very interested and accommodating and eventually just talked with me and seemed very aware of my app and brought up things I would think have been discussed as cons to my app. Maybe? Gibby would know probably.

@TheGuy1 For internationals especially in countries where interviews are limited, like India, its always an Adcom who will interview.

Like for example, I believe they interview around 10 people from India. Only 4 or 5 get in. Remaining are deferred. All the 10 are interviewed by Adcoms.

The rules are different for domestic. It’s mostly Alumni.

The case with @jordanheston is different as this is his second interview.

Anyway, I’m almost certainly getting the L as I didn’t get any interview!!

@whatsmypassword So what is my diagnosis, you think, doc?

You’re in boiii!!!

Grats!!! ? ??
