He might be international…
That’s why he was deferred.
I’m sure he’ll get in RD…

@whatsmypassword They still mail the LL. Maybe the started doin’ emails?
Only stanford has emailed LL’s IMO.
I mean if you get an LL, you’re gettin’ in.
@TheGuy1
I don’t think so… Most LLs come as an email… (Or in a digital format)
Stanford emails them. Columbia emails them.
Some Reddit dude told that the Harvard Likely letter came as a status update in his portal. So that’s considered email???
You mentioned physical ‘email’ in your last post lol
No, I meant like actual letters printed on paper in the mailbox. Thats how most schools do it.
They dont update Portals at all, until the Dec Day’s come by. So that false.
They either email them, or mail them. Mostly they mail them to almost all apps/all apps, but idk in what cases they email them.
Many emails have turned spam as well, not saying that this is, but just something worth examining.
@TheGuy1 Look at post numbers 202 and 203
@whatsmypassword Fair enough. THough its not common practice.
wait sorry, were the LL’s emailed or mailed? I’m getting conflicting information. i didnt get anything, RIP lmao
wait were the LL’s only for international applicants? sorry for all the questions
@gibby Thanks for the info. The interview is done and AO did not ask any specific questions just chatting, strange.
What is a mid year report for Harvard application? Is it just the mid year transcript? Does it ask anything else the school counselor has to write? Thanks.
@love2cheeses: The mid year report is part of the Common Application and the applicant does not have access to it. Only your GC can fill out the form as it requires an official transcript with their signature attesting that your course schedule, GPA, class rank, disciplinary status and criminal history has not changed since submitting your original Common Application: See: https://www.commonapp.org/whats-appening/college-counseling/tips-and-tools-mid-year-reports. Here’s an old sample from 2013: https://www.redlands.edu/globalassets/depts/cas-admissions/midyear-report.pdf
No
@fanofthemcu Please read all the posts before asking a question which has already been answered again.
People will get fed up of answering the same thing over again.
Not getting an LL doesnt mean anything.
Most admitted apps dont get one.
@ThatGuy1, sorry!
@fanofthemcu Its okay, just be up to date with the forum in order to ask more ‘relevant’/‘updated’ questions.
If one got deferred for EA, is it likely for them to get accepted during RD?
The admit rate for defers is lower than normal RD apps.
Statistically true.
This is due to the fact that generally nothing much changes in viewing the app within context of the full pool again.
If u want further details, I may explain.
It’s very unlikely a deferred student will be accepted RD. It’s something in the 2-3% range based on past history. The link from the Boston Globe article is on one of the earlier pages of this thread.
@skieurope I have one question regarding the use of academic indexes (AI) for applicants to ivy league schools that arent recruited athletes.
Is the AI still used for them, if so, what level of importance does it have in that case. For recruits, they take the AI number and use that solely as a number of evaluating the academic strength of the app. (Research and work of that sort is counted in the EC’s)
I’m just asking this off curiosity.
I’ve come across several instances where a student is admitted to Harvard on the condition that they take a gap year and enter with the next year’s class. Does anyone know more about this? What percent of applicants are admitted this way? And what percent of Harvard’s incoming class are this type of student?
