Harvard Class of 2023 Waitlisted Discussion

My daughter is still on the waitlist but has never been contacted by an AO and all of her communications have been through the designated general portals. Are we missing something??? How do other applicants have specific AOs to contact?

@threeplustwo: Harvard doesn’t publish a contact list of their AO’s, so prospective students cannot directly contact an AO, but must wait for the AO to contact them – either through a note sent via the portal or by the student’s email address of record.

@gibby Thank you. The fact that other applicants have been contacted makes me think that the lack of contact with my daughter may not bode well, but her performance and nature are also apparent enough that clarification may not be necessary. Remaining hopeful!

Just received a mysterious update to my portal today. Might be a sign that there’s another wave coming out tonight.

@anonymous9874 Where do you see this update? I don’t think anything has changed on my portal (yet).

Edit: As a side note, does anybody else find it strange that so many of us are still on this list when Harvard has traditionally wrapped things up by the end of June? Looking at past threads, there are usually only around 4-5 active posters still waiting at this point.

@Waiting510 The update was posted under my application checklist. It says “Wait List Update” and has today’s date next to it. Unlike several people from past waves, however, my waitlist status (the one that says “you are confirmed to remain on the waitlist”) has not disappeared.

No news here

@anonymous9874 Thanks for the quick response! To add another data point to the discussion, I personally do not have a waitlist update with today’s date in my application checklist. Anybody else?

@Waiting510 I also have not received a phone call or had a second interview. But it seems odd that I still have my waitlist status despite getting this update.

@anonymous9874 That definitely breaks the trend we’ve been seeing for waitlist portal updates this year. Hope you get good news soon and please update us if anything else changes!

@Waiting510 Thanks so much. I’ll keep you all updated.

Anyone hear today?

hey there, new to this thread but I am also waitlisted and have not heard anything – no phone calls, no emails, no updates to the portal – and am growing nervous because in their reply to my accepting my spot on the waitlist they said all applicants would receive some response by the end of June. A few of my friends heard a month ago, after being waitlisted, that they were officially rejected. Does anyone know when we will hear anything? At least an email saying “We didn’t forget about you!”?

According to the official letter, most decisions are made by the end of May. But I can’t tell if most decisions were actually made by May - it still seems there are quite a few of us. Has anyone gotten z-list offers?

Just to offer some perspectives here: I have a friend who was admitted via the waitlist over the summer a couple of years ago, and before H admitted this person, they contacted to ask for final grades. Not saying that if you don’t get contacted for grades there’s little chance for you, but it does seem like if H wants to admit you they’d ask for more info. Good luck everyone!

Just rejected from the waitlist.

Just rejected as well.

rejected. best of luck to all who are left

Rejected, but a little glad I didn’t have to choose between my current school and Harvard. Good luck to everyone and go Ephs

if you don’t mind my asking, did they call you or update your portal?
