Harvard Class of 2025 — Regular Decision

Submit it once knowing that most supplemental submissions never see the light of day anyway.

Has anyone received an interview yet? I submitted my application two weeks ago but haven’t received any emails for interviews

My son applied REA to Harvard but inadvertently applied EA to a couple of other private schools as well. (Neither of us truly understood the Restrictive nature of the Harvard admission deadline.) Is anyone familiar with the penalties of breaking the non-binding policies of REA? Is this an honor code type request or does it have more consequences?

And to answer the question of others, he has already been contacted for an interview and submitted on Nov. 1st.

He can email the EA colleges to move to RD. Failure to do so puts any Harvard admissions at risk of being rescinded. Don’t ask if Harvard will find out - they will.

Is it OK to apply to Public Schools EA if you applied to Harvard REA?

Yes

@TheChloeC Harvard isn’t a conservatory. They will probably listen to a few minutes (we cued the best 3 minutes). No need to submit the second one. Did you also submit a music resume and letters of recommendation from music teacher/director?

@fawnsmom you don’t schedule the interview on the Common App, no. Someone will contact you. No worries.

Thank you @compmom

I haven’t received an interview either. I’m starting to get kind of worried. Is this just us or are there other people who haven’t gotten an interview scheduled? I don’t recall the Harvard application asking for an interview date.

The Common application did not ask for an interview date. I was contacted on 11/10 and my interview was held on 11/13. I am located in Arizona.

Every year there is a lot of anxiety about interviews. It is hard to wait when you are anxious. If an interviewer is available you will get an interview. Merit is not relevant to the scheduling of interviews. If you don’t have an interview it does not affect your chances.

I had my interview today and it went so well! My interviewer told me that they prefer students who are well-spoken (of course) and eager to discuss the things they love. I don’t know if that helps anyone but I thought I’d put it out there.

Has anyone from the southeast region of the US (Georgia) heard about interviews yet?

Harvard '24 admit here. As the founder of an admissions advisory, on the topic of interviews, I can assure you that anyone can do well on the interview with practice and these reminders:

  • Keep It Cordial. Think of this more as a friendly conversation for you to learn more about each other. Don't think of this medium as a questionnaire for your application, but rather just a way for Harvard to get to know you "off the page."
  • Learn About Them. Notice how in the previous section I said to "learn more about each other." Ask them questions! Make an effort to learn about the other person -- bilateral dialogue goes much further in building rapport with the person you're speaking with.
  • Be Confident. As with any social interaction, display good posture, speak with assertion and passion, and show that you are meant to be at Harvard.
  • Be Relatable. Going hand-in-hand with keeping it cordial, stay calm and collected during the meeting. Being funny, wearing a smile, and speaking as if this is an everyday conversation with a friend will set you up for success.

Feel free to reach out with any other questions.

Cheers,
Ethan (AimIvy)

How did you select interview date on common app for the 15th, As I have not seen they have this question on common app for interview.

When do interview requests usually go out? I still haven’t gotten mine yet.

Anyone else freaking out that we’ll hear back in less than a month?

@grace03 I’m in TN and haven’t gotten an interview yet either

Does anyone have a guess for what day they will announce the early decisions? I know they said mid-December but I’m curious if anyone has any insight on the specific day.

I think it’s usually the second week of December. For the past four years, it’s always been the second week ranging from Wednesday-Saturday.

Although I heard Yale is releasing December 15th and usually the ivy leagues do them around the same time for early decision, but not exactly (not like the regular decision where they do them all on one day).
