I was just wondering what the suggested dress code for men is for a Harvard Club reception? Suit, button-down and slacks, or collared shirt and nice pants? Thanks!

When my daughter and I attended the one in Boston, there was a complete range of attire. The most casual was a young man in shorts and a t-shirt, to those with a jacket/blazer and slacks. There may have been suits but i do not recall exactly. The other students accepted from our town wore slacks with a shirt and sweater. Hope that helps.

Mr. shorts and a TShirt was definitely making a statement: I wanna be rude to my hosts. Avoid the outlier!

^ We did sit at the same table. Possibly in his defense, he and his family came directly from a camping trip. I would have done differently, but those were the circumstances.

I’d go the collared shirt route. You don’t want to be overdressed - it is a pretty relaxed event, after all - but you also don’t want to be underdressed. Just look sharp.
