We're going to the Harvard Club reception in Boston for admitted students with my son on Sunday. Can anyone who has attended in the past give us any information on what to expect and what to wear?

I attend the Harvard Club reception every year, but in a different city. The attire is anything ranging from business casual (especially understandable for students) to business attire. Beware of being too dressed up or cocktail-y – not right for this occasion. I have seen students wear strapless dresses and cleavages, which were very out of place at the reception. Girls can be in skirts, dresses, or trousers. Boys should be fine in sweater or shirts and trousers, but a jacket and tie would fit right in.

Q: What is the dress code?
A: The dress code for men is business casual, which requires a collared shirt, slacks (non-denim), and non-athletic shoes. Equivalent attire is required for women. Ultimately, determinations regarding the appropriateness of dress will be made by management at both Clubhouses.
