Are there any good reasons to choose Columbia over Harvard and Berkeley for economics?

Liking Columbia, wanting to be in NYC, liking the Core, hating Beantown, etc.

Columbia is one of the top 10 IN THE WORLD in economics.

depends on if Harvard grade inflation appeals to you :)

Yes. Columbia's econ department is awesome. I'm not sure about Harvard's and Berkeley's, but I assume they are too.

That being comparable, if you major in econ you probably want to go into business? Columbia students may start their business internships right during freshman year; every Friday, you could dress up and take a subway downtown and do your internship.

With Columbia's opportunities and locationa advantages for econ covered, I'm sure coming out of Harvard and Berkeley doors will be open to you too.

So make your decision based on other factors, like size, student body characteristic, location, neighborhood, etc.

Just as important as these is whether or not you like it and want to go there for four years of your life. It may come down to this if the above factors are all comparable. If it does, just go with your gut feelings and choose the one you love the most and won't regret choosing, and rest assured that 1) these three are awesome schools and you probably can't go wrong, and 2) if anything, you can transfer.

why columbia is better: www.gradeinflation.org

why is it to harvard but not columbia?

because Columbia isn't as well known for its grade inflation.

i see. is that only good for grad school?

haha. gradeinflation.org.

beautiful.

Go to Harvard if you want to study economics. Columbia is awesome, but not as good as Harvard.

brdc_2, how do you register for the internships during the freshman year and can you be in SEAS, take classes in the school of business and do the internships? Thanks in advance
