Harvard considering stopping legacy preference

It’s about time. Legacy admissions preference should have been dropped 50 years ago.

They are considering it. It will be newsworthy if they actually do it

If Harvard actually drops legacy, it will trigger an avalanche.

Princeton and Yale could actually afford the expected drop in legacy donations more easily than Harvard due to their larger endowment per student, and could actually do it first to upstage Harvard.

The other Ivies will will feel pressure to follow suit even though they are less able to afford. And then no college will want to be the last to keep legacy admissions.
