He guys, has anyone been able to activate their e-mailaccount? I got me acceptance letter with the HUID code and I created a PIN, but activating my e-mail account still does not work.

Yeah, when I try, it says something about needing to wait until the term bill has been paid. Does this mean we have to wait until August?

Someone on Facebook said that they called the office and was told that it would be a few more weeks

still doesn't work for me either...

nor I!
But I do have a my.harvard page...

It works for me now.

My son was having the same problem. He couldn't set up an e-mail address. I'll let him know that he's not the only one.

D was able to set hers up last night after being unable to earlier.

Good to hear gadad. I'll let my son know this afternoon.

still can't activate mine... help??

Wait till you send your accetance. If I remember correctly it was around May 1st when daughter's e-mail account was active. But I could be wrong.

my son still can't log in. Arg!

From my D who got the e-mail account to set up: "Create an account on my.harvard and log into it. Then find the page "Managing Your E-Mail Account." That should take you to a page about activating your account, where you have to follow the links to a page with a questionnaire. You have to score 9 out of 10 on the questionnaire - just remember that H wants you to err on the side of caution, and you'll know which answers to choose."

But I think it just takes some time for the admissions office to process our acceptances...so I'll just wait it out

Son still unable to set up e-mail. It keeps coming up that it does not recognize the ID#.

That's true. After accepting the offer, you have to wait anywhere from 3 days to 2 weeks for them to process your HUID before you can get your @fas.harvard.edu email address.

A piece of advice- in my time so far at Harvard, the only thing I've truly been disappointed with is the email system.

It has no spam filtering, the interface is not user friendly, and it has the tendency to give error messages and screw up in all sorts of ways. I strongly recommend forwarding your Harvard mail to a gmail or other email account that can filter spam and let you read your mail easily.

(That said, I can't wait for you to get to campus next September! Enjoy!)

OK Admiral - thanks - now I realize why, when I e-mail my daughter @fas.harvard, her responses to me come back from a gmail address.

Thanks everyone. Good to know. I'll let my son know. I have to say that everyone on this Harvard site is great! Lot's of good advise and always eager to help. I'm hoping that this is the trend for Harvard students :)
