1) the instructions on their website say "You should send signed photocopies of all pages and schedules of your parents' 2008 federal tax returns (including photocopies of all W-2 forms) to the College Board by March 1." So if I put the forms in the mail on February 28, am I okay?

2) On the "forms' section of the Harvard financial aid website, there is a "parental cashflow statement" that looks like this: http://www.fao.fas.harvard.edu/downl..._statement.pdf

However, this statement is not mentioned anywhere in Harvard's financial aid instructions... what's the deal with this? Is it required or what?

Hmm, I saw the cashflow statement too but I didn't submit it.

I only know about your first Q.
It takes approximately 5 business days for Collegeboard to receive your papers and process them. I sent mine 2/21 and it was just made available to colleges 2/27. Yours won't make it by time, but I'm sure a lot of people's documents will be late as well. I don't think this would really hurt the amount of financial aid you get.

Question: if it appears to be taking more than 5 days (closer to 10), is that a bad thing? :|

10 business days (Mon-Fri)? ._. That's a long time. But Collegeboard might just be swamped with documents since a lot of deadlines are around now. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Heh, I hope so. :|

In the past the cashflow statement has not been needed. To clarify this, call the finaid office and ask to speak to a financial aid officer. There is one on call each day to answer questions.

collegeboard says that the documents should be sent to them by the specific college deadline i.e POSTMARKED by the college deadline. You are fine if you sent it on 28th, I sent it on 27th.
