Hey, I have a question about reporting SAT II scores. Two of the colleges I am interested in (Harvard/Georgetown) require three SAT II tests. Over the course of the last year I managed to get a 790 in U.S History, 770 in Math 2, 750 in World History, and a 710 in Chem. I just wanted to know what would be the best plan when submitting my applications. Should I submit U.S, World, and Math even though U.S and World are both history? Or should I take my chances with a low Chem score and substitute that for World? I could also retake Chem or another test but it would be difficult to test in a subject I have not had in school for 2-3 months. Thanks for your help and any opinions are greatly appreciated.

If you could, you should retake Chem. Simply because you need to show well- roundedness so sending in two histories doesn’t accomplish that. US, Math II, and Chem are also the ones I took. It shouldent be too hard to study for chem. The Barons was very helpful but a bit too detailed for the test.
The only reason I took three was because of Georgetown too!
good luck!

Alright thanks for the advice. I probably will follow your advice and suck it up and do Chem again.

give them all 4

Retake chem… and if you don’t get a 750+ then just submit the two histories and math II. This is because you already have 750+ in those three and although it is not that well rounded, 750+ on SATII’s is seen as an advantage in admissions for top tier schools. However, the 710 in Chem wouldn’t “hurt”.

General rule I’ve found (for top schools)
750-800: helps
700-740: won’t hurt or help (viewed as pretty standard scores for qualified applicants)
690 and below: don’t submit (upper 600’s not that bad, but it gets bad from there)

Thanks I V. Thats a good standard to go by. I might just go for chem one more time and then submit whatever I have.

On the Common Application, you have space to write down six subject test scores. Let them pick and choose.
