harvard getting in

My results are honestly low, my SAT's have a pretty good chance of being great. I recently found out that my family donated a huge amount of money to Harvard and that one of the buildings/courses is under our family name. Does that help me? Or am I simply being delusional about the way college admissions function?

Oh, you have a great shot. Def. apply.

even though it’s only my cousins who actually donated? my parents never went to harvard or college for that matter although various other members of my family did. i heard that being an international student is a plus, and from france too because the educational system of high school is very hard, true?
i’m just freaking ouuut, everything looks so competitive, but having found all this stuff out about my family, i want to make the most of it.

“even though it’s only my cousins who actually donated?”

I’m not sure, but I’d personally mention it.

“i heard that being an international student is a plus”
-Ehh, no, not necessarily.

It is competitive, but I think you should apply. What have you got to lose?

You’ll probably get in. Unfortunately, this is how the college process functions.

I’ve got nothing to lose. I’ve just started working on my SAT’s and just wanted to know if there was even any hope Harvard would pay attention to me. So thanks for answering and giving me hope! Yayyy

You’re only tangentially related to the donors. Development cases aren’t that expansive where the donor can push in just anyone. If it were a parent or grandparent or uncle/aunt, maybe. How you describe it, you just happen to be related.

Your relation would have to contact Harvard development and cash in one of his/her chits. Do you think he/she will do this for you? If not, then you’ll get no boost.

But you have said you have very low grades. This almost assures your not being admitted.

^Eh, no not really.

I know people who’ve gotten into Ivies with less than 3 GPA’s and less than 1800 SAT scores.

Just apply, OP. You probably do have a good shot.

Why don’t you talk to the Harvardian adcoms directly or indirectly (through donor Harvardian cousins)…

believe me that will help…

I heard that someone was waitlisted by Princeton in RD. Later, his uncle just gave a call to the adcoms and the very next day he received CONGRATULATIONS…
