ok, i dont go to harvard. but my ex girlfriend, whom i am still close with, goes to harvard law. and i just got off the phone with her...

her grades have been pretty poor this year, her 2nd year in law school. she ended up flat out flunking one of her classes. and she's been stressed out and calling me all month because she thinks she is going get kicked out. today, the dean of students wanted to have an emrgency meeting with her....

basically, the dean of students told her that he was concerned, no so much about her grades, but about her overall "situation". the dean of students gave her an option of re-enrolling in some of the classes that she did poorly in, or atleast retake just the finals for those classes. omg***bbq. REALLY? flunk a class and you get the option to re-take it, what a great system. and there is no "situation" affecting my freind, she's just flat out stupid. drinking and partying when she should be studying. harvard is even going to pay for a therapist, if she wants one, because you know having too much fun is just so stressful. this summer she will be in new york working for skadden in NYC. if you know anything about law, skadden is the hottest firm for corperate M&A law, which is exaclty what she wants to do. i guess they dont care about grades, though. infatc, at the law school you basically just sign up for whatever firm you want to interview for and you are pretty much gaurunteed atleast the interview. amaaazzziiinnngggg. i dont even wnat to tell you how much cash she's getting for the summer, or i just may vomit on my keyboard.

she tells me this is type of thing goes on more so in undergrad than in the grad programs. lucky you. because you see, i went to a "normal" school where "normal" people dont have the advantages you may have. i hear over 1/2 your student body gets A's. and sometimes i wondered why i was competeing with harvard literature majors for the same corporate jobs, its because they probably had a higher gpa than i did. lucky, lucky, lucky you. be very grateful, beacuse it wont last, it just wont.

i hate you all, thank you for reading, i am done.

UH I think you need to stop talking to your ex-girlfriend. It looks like you are still bitter towards her or something...And it was scary when the last part of your post started to slip into second person.

also:

that's not very surprising. It's actually lower than I thought it would be, considering the fact that Harvard accepts the best students the world has to offer.

Harvard is a fantastic place because everybody gets so many A's. I've even heard that next year, they won't bother giving tests and will just give everybody A's. This will increase the number of applicants and perhaps yield in order to pass Princeton as the number 1 school in US News. Maybe the following year, classes will be eliminated completely. This way the professors can spend more time doing research which is really what they want to do in this research graduate school oriented university.

Wow, if I was your ex-girlfriend I would break up our "friendship" asap!! You obviously aren't mature enough to deal with being friends with your ex...Fair enough to be angry at Harvard if your getting screwed over, but calling her stupid and basically saying that she doesn't deserve the opportunities that she is receiving at Harvard is pretty low...She must have done something amazing to get in in the first place.

Makes me wonder how she got in in the first place. I guess she could have just worked extremely hard during undergrad and then decided to completely slack off...

If it is any consolation, when she gets a job, her employer will expect her to deliver a quality service to clients. If she continues to party and not do her work, she won't have a job for long. Those who worked hard in other law schools and work hard at their jobs will advance quickly in their careers while the lazy Harvard law student goes nowhere.

anywyas, my point, which i actually forgot to get to as i was typing so much, was that anybody could get a good gpa while putting in zero effort at harvard...which is something i find very unfair. but oh well, it is what it is.
