Harvard grads have it bad

<p>WindCloudUltra, indeed, he wears his house sweatshirt and freshman housing day t-shirt with regularity. As for Jo Rowling, I remember watching her whole address (which was really good) on the computer because my son (a freshman at the time) was in Commencement Choir. He couldn’t believe that he was on the same stage at the same time as the author of the books that were the backdrop of his teen years. I remember the July evening in 2007 when HP 7 was realeased, and how Harvard Yard was turned into Hogwarts Yard, replete with a concert by Harry and the Potters. I’m nothing if not sentimental. Sigh.</p>

<p>I am one of about three dozen English speakers on the planet who just don’t “get” Harry Potter, but that is a truly remarkable thing about Harvard. Whether it’s J. K. Rowling or (as it was in my day) J. K. Galbraith, it’s hard to count all the opportunities to say to yourself, “I can’t believe I’m in a room with this person!”</p>
