HARVARD HELP

Hey. So I'm going to keep it simple.

I am currently a rising senior and very interested on my chances of getting accepted to Harvard.
- Salutatorian (4.0 UW)
- 102.7 cumulative grade point average
- Black Female
- Mother and brother are Harvard Alumni as well as first class Marshalls
- 32 on ACT
- 760 on Math 1 SAT Subject Tests
- 750 on Biology Subject tests
- International Baccalaureate student
- 7 AP classes all 4's
- 4 years varsity basketball
- 800 hours community service
- 3 Clubs
- On county leadership team which is very selective
- Can't think of anything else at the moment

Just interested on your feedback of things that I could improve this upcoming year and my chances. Thanks so much for your time!

*had to repost this bc I posted this in the wrong category last time

Most of all that makes you very competitive for elite schools. Hopefully your essays and recommendations will match.

I can’t comment on your 3 clubs involvement. If you did nothing more than occupy a chair, then they don’t count for much. If you made things happen, that’s better. Same with county leadership. Selectivity won’t matter if you didn’t do much.

ACT is less than ideal for a white applicant, but it’s OK for a black applicant. I hope my saying that doesn’t offend you or start anyone ranting and raving.

I should add that nothing you’ve written makes you stand out, and that’s often important. That doesn’t mean it’s not there – just that you haven’t posted about it, and that you may need to identify something and flesh it out in your application.

Legacy and URM hooks should definitely help. Also you’re IB and AP classes look good, however, like @WasatchWriter said… from what you posted nothing really stands out (i’d emphasize your community service in your essays though) and your test scores won’t be at the top range for Harvard applicants.

There’s a lot of good info on this site for improving your test scores. Its probably worth the investment in time.
