Ok, so I have a friend that applied to Harvard this year, but her SATs are beneath Harvard's standards (1800s) and she is doubtful she'll get in. She told me recently that she may be going to "Harvard in India" if rejected from Harvard (in MA - lol). Apparently, it's known as "Harvard International Medical School" and she can graduate from there in 5 years with no previous undergraduate experience (she's 17, graduating from HS in June). Anyone ever heard of this? It struck me as a bit strange.

must be nuts

or

Harvard here must be like the MIT
manipal institute of tech.
or maharashtra institute of tech :P

blaaah
chill

theres nothing like that here

impossible..period

Lol. She says it's also known by that ("Harvard International Medical School"). It might be called "SRI" or something like that, as well. I can't remember the full name, but I doubt I could spell it anyway. :P

By the way, her father is a surgeon and he allegedly taught there, so getting in is not a problem.

Its in conjunction with AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) if i am not wrong... and Apollo Hospital. AIIMS is a school+public hospital (HUUGEE) and Apollo Hospital is teaching Hospital+Private Hospital (HUGGGEEE) as well... i think she'll get accredited from the program. I did hear about it in India, particularly in New Delhi

Are they talking about this?

coloDad -
Yeah, that looks like it. Hmm... Do you think a degree from that school is worth as much as a degree from Harvard itself? Just out of curiousity.

not even close

and its just a Harvard accredited univ nothing more

They've got Harvard plastered all over their website. On any given webpage I see Harvard written more than SRI... Sad... I think they're using the name to look good more than anything.
